I've never been a skinny girl, that was always my mom and sister. Now that I've reached the prime of my life and I'm the happiest I've ever been, I still have this "tire" that is holding me back from being that 100% I want to be. I left the military January 2007 and since then, my activity level dropped. In September 2009, a friend at work told me that anyone can run a marathon if you put your mind to it. So I started running using the Couch to 5K program. I've currently completed two 5K's and one 10 mile run. I completed my first half marathon on June 26th and just stopped running after it. I realized that I hate running, I'm only doing it to burn calories and there are more enjoyable ways to do that.

UGHHHHH...Carbs
I went out and bought Quaker Oatmeal Squares because Bob of Biggest Loser fame recommended them and they actually taste delicious! They have 46g of whole grain in one serving and they are tasty enough to put in a ziploc baggy as an afternoon snack. I have them for breakfast and I'm not hungry for at least 3-4 hours afterwards.

Finding Extra Flavor
Cassyb30, the main protein is found in the egg whites while the fat and cholesterol is located in the egg yolk. Once you get used to it, you probably won't notice much of a difference. I make omelets in the morning and spray the pan with olive oil, saute some mushrooms, and then make an egg white omelet and it's delish~!

Marathon training
I just finished my first half marathon yesterday and am planning to fit in another one in August while training up for the Portland marathon 10/10/10. I run 2-3 miles four days a week on my lunch hour and then try for a long run with my husband on the weekend. I'm right at the point where I'm trying to lose weight so the running will be easier. I only have a few more pounds to go. I can't say that I like running but I like how I feel when I finish a race, lol.
