HCB's Journal, 04 October 2012

Well, still hovering around the same place - saw 188.8 on the "idiot box" again. I am hoping for a stable and consistent loss this weekend. I want those smaller pants to fit comfortably! Right now they fit - but still too snug to wear at work all day.

I may try switching around some of my food times to see if that moves things along. LOL! It is my personal science experiment!

I am grateful:

- for the people I love, who love me back!

- The good health of my loved ones
- My FS Buddies who support and encourage me to continue
- "Butt-kicking" myself to a smaller size today
- My DH - who is my greatest "cheerleader"
- My Bengal cat companions named Bodhi and Ravi
- My work - which has meaning and worth to other human beings
- My connection to the Mother Earth and its entire splendor
- My physical health

LOL at calling the scale the "idiot box". Good call! I loved having inspiration clothing - things I wanted to fit into again - but now that I've fit into all of my formerly too small clothes I just have to be happy with things getting looser and eventually having to pack them away. I'm sure you'll be wearing those pants to work in the very near future :) Good job staying on top of things and switching it up - complacency doesn't help in the weight loss game. You're doing great!

You know, 1 month ago you were at 200. You're still doing great! Don't lose sight of that! Experimenting can be the fun part of this to see what works and what doesnt. Despite the stall in weight loss, what does the mirror reveal?

You are coming up to the Green zone, which I really think is the part where you have to relook at what you are doing and tweak to get it to move along. But I have to say you have one of the most impressive graphs I have seen!!

HCB for more inspiration just take another look at your graph--you have done terrific!!!. Try and focus on how your clothes feel until you see the numbers you like on the scale. I really get discouraged with the scale obsession and it can blow my self confidence-- even though I know I have been eating healthier, have a lower calorie intake and I am exercising regularly. If I don't see a number on the "Idiot Box" that confirms that, it puts me into a funk. I have so many fluctuations of my weight in a day I find it best for me to weigh less often, once a week, works for me. Keep on moving in the right direction and don't get discouraged, you are doing GREAT :)

I agree with everyone else. You have done terrific! You don't have any upward peaks on your graph. That just aint natural! :) Hang in there, you'll start dropping again.

Even our inspiration needs inspiration. Darn it! If it just wouldn't take so freekin long! to lose weight! That scale is a double edged sword. Here's what I did one time...I couldn't hardly stop myself from getting on it every time I went near the bathroom...so I put a piece of masking tape over the number part and wrote a 1 week future date on it with a marker. I sill 'satisfied' my urge to get on it; but couldn't see it until the date came. Surprise! Hey, I gotta do that trick again!!! :)

Since everyone else already beat me to it... I will simply add that I have faith in you and that you will reach your goals! :)

You may have reached a point where you will be losing slower now, but you are still losing - ounces do add up to pounds. Just hang in there!

Keep experimenting, keep trying new things! That is what sparks us, motivate us to get better is seeing how our bodies react to change. Keep your head up and steady, you will get to where you want to be! Body composition is 40% genetically dis-positioned, which means 60% of it is controlled by our behaviors. We have control!

HCB, how can I commiserate with you more? I can't believe you've lost 12 pounds in a month. It's been 5 weeks and I haven't lost anything! I did have a nice day yesterday in getting into a pencil skirt I hadn't been able to wear in a month - it was snug when I first put it on, but after a couple of hours it fit just right. Fabrics give with body heat and motion. Maybe you could put on the pant for few hours and see how they do. I have been suggested to switch to 5 small meals a day, and I am still resistant to it. I don't like snacks. I like MEALS. I would not feel satisfied if I had 5 snacks a day. And since I've been on the diet, I have been really super good about not eating between meals, which used to be something I couldn't control very well. I don't know what the answer is - I added strength training like you suggested. Yesterday I had hardly any carbs, and my blood sugar was super low, so I was gobbling glucose tablets all day. So no way am I going below 1300. My body is totally sore today from my FIERCE class, which I'm sure is a good thing, I'm working muscles that up until now have not gotten a lot of work. I just keep watching your posts for suggestions and just want to let you know that once again, I am right there with you.

I think all of us on this site are on an experimental journey. Each of our body chemistries is SO DIFFERENT. This is definitely a "one-size-DOESN'T-fit-all" trip. The weird thing is, its a "one-size-doesn't-fit ONE-trip" as well. Each of us needs to make adjustments as we go. That's where fat secret comes in, I think. It keeps us aware and moving on while we make those adjustments instead of giving up and going back to old habits. You WILL get there!!! XOXOXO

I love this statement, "I am grateful for the people I love, who love me back!" I know I have read it on your journals before but today it really spoke to me. You have a beautiful spirit. The scale will have its ups and downs but your inner beauty shines through every day.
