Hi my name is Eric and I am 31 years old. I have always been a "skinny rail" my entire life. I could eat anything I wanted and not worry about gaining a single pound! Going into college I was at a whopping 105 lbs. Getting out of college, I was 135 lbs - a good 30 lbs over a 4 year stint of typical college eating (ramen noodles, frozen pizzas, beer, liquor, and the remaining 9 yards). It was not until a few years ago that my wife convinced me to go to the doctors and get a routine check up. It was that very check up that instantly got me into a health nut. My cholesterol was at 244 and my doctor wanted to recommend I take Lipitor - at age 25/26! That scared the sh*t out of me. I needed to change and change quick. So I have been on the health kick since, lowered my cholesterol down to low 200s, became a gym rat, and even recently got my certified personal training through NCSF. I can honestly say that I am the most fit I have ever been - 120 lbs. and about 6-8% body fat. My continuous goal is to maintain my lean build (I was trying to get to 130 lbs. but am realizing that I do not want to sacrafice the lean I have gained from my current nutrition plan). Using FS has helped me get to where I am at by providing me the insight into what I choose to feed my body!

UPDATE: I am trying to gain mass again but really focusing on calories in vs. calories out, along with macro-nutrient breakdown of 30/30/40 protein/fat/carbs respectively.

So far so good, we will see how it goes and if I can actually stick with it for 2-3 months. Last time I tried, it did not go well because I wanted the lean look without the fat gain (impossible). Need to accept that I will have some fat increase along with muscle gains but hopefully minimized.

Weight lifting and %RDI
Diablo and Nimm - I couldn't agree with you guys more. After reading that article it really made me think about my current eating habits and helps affirm that what I have been doing these past years has worked (for maintaining). I really enjoyed the part related to upper and lower ranges based on what your goals are, gaining or losing mass. I will definitely be using that in mind with my current goals. Thanks Nimm!

Macronutrients
I do track macros and I try to be in the ballpark of 40/30/30 carbs/fat/protein percentages. I am pretty close to it.

Cannot Update Challenge Progress
I wish I could help but I am not seeing the issue and I am on Chrome. I just recorded my progress earlier today, hopefully you can figure it out?

Body Fat %
I like this thread. I actually measure in three ways. Scale with BF reading (Taylor), Handheld BF reading (Omron), and 3-point pinch test (chest, abs, thigh - Jackson Pollock with digital calipers). What I have found after doing this for over a year is each method has their variations in accuracy. Pinch test is definitely the most accurate so long as you are consistent with location and familiar with proper pinch methods but you will improve over time/experience the more you do it. I am usually at a 2-3% bf difference between scale and handheld. What I do find interesting is the hand held and pinch test are within 1-2% bf difference. Regardless, the key is seeing the variance from week to week. Whether your reader is giving you 4, 6, 10% bf what matters is seeing the up and down relative to that - that is the indication of whether or not your diet/exercise is effective.

What's your proudest moment so far?
Proudest moment so far, dropping my cholesterol from 244 down to 182 over a long five year period without any meds.
