I am a 58 year old woman with the hope of reducing my weight for my health and to meet my fitness goals. Up until I was about 45 years old, I exercised regularly and watched all my food choices. In fact. when I was 40 years old, I was in the best condition. This was an accomplishment since I had been an overweight kid, and battled weight off and on for most of my adult life.

Then, menopause hit and I started a more sedentary job...and I also have hypothyroid! I just slowed down and didn't seem to care anymore.

I have done organized programs at the gym, and food programs. I tend to do well for a while until I hit the dreaded plateau...and then I am discouraged and give up. I WILL NOT give up this time.

I do not think we eliminate carbs - we choose the quality of carbs we ingest; fruits, vegetables, nuts, etc. Please read the book WHEAT BELLY (Google on Amazon.com) and you will have a new perspective. It is the REFINED carbs in most breads, cookies, crackers, baked goods that will cause SOME people to struggle with weight loss.

Adding Protein to Oatmeal
I have read that adding protein powder to anything WARM, causes the proteinto deteriorate which is why we don't make hot cocoa with chocolate protein powder. I think I will try the egg whites idea!

1) Live every day with a smile at SOMETHING at least once per day!
2) Love people - and tell them!
3) stay on track with my health and fitness goals for 2013 i.e., get under the goal weight, bike many miles in summer, wear my size 10 clothes!
