I'm a 52 y.o. 6'2" tall Anglo male of Polish, English and French-Canadian descent - I have been on here years, when the site was almost new... I noticed most of my initial friends but a few are all off. The more one journals on here, truly the more one stays in line with their weight goals. Some people found other diet sites, including Atkins or some other forum, but for me this has been the best one. The photo is from early fall 2012. I am retired military now, and I live modestly, so money is no problem. I need to lose a bit, and am a former licensed practical or vocational nurse (I got the license, which I no longer have by challenging the California board in 1990 with my military experience as an Air Force medic). I read Spanish nearly fluently and speak it fairly well. Now I'm trying to become a published author, and am seeking a literary agent and have written three books. I have three completed and typed novels and ready for submission SOMEWHERE soon. I am single and not dating and at the age it doesn't matter anymore. I have had no success so far getting a literary agent they often do not want to take a risk on an unknown writer nowadays with the fragile book selling economy. Despite my terrible grammar sometimes while writing on here quickly and not editing it, with my books I'm much more careful proofreading things. I adopted a Cairn terrier-mix dog Feb 2, 2009 named Toto. NOTE: PLEASE DON'T MESSAGE ME IF YOU ARE UNDER 18-yrs.-old, it is only appropriate for adults to correspond... Thanks to the FS people who provide this service! I need to lose 25 pounds by the end of the year - maybe 15 by summer. It is March 2013 now and I am ready for spring! I am doing the genealogy of my family now as of December 2013. My mom's side was done by an aunt. On my dad's mom's side it goes to Anthony Colby who came to Boston in 1630! I am a direct descendant of his.

Sensa - Has anyone tried the diet product called Sensa?
Added note everyone - I tried Sensa for two days last week, my friend let me borrow it. It somewhat did stop some cravings at times, but I found myself still eating the same amount generally and for me it caused a profound depression fairly fast so I got off of it. I would not recommend it to anyone...

Sensa - Has anyone tried the diet product called Sensa?
Thanks for the insight. No one does know what the long-term side effects are from Sensa - even if they are losing weight. I have already given up all diet products and after a month feel much better...

Sensa - Has anyone tried the diet product called Sensa?
Has anyone tried the diet product Sensa? A neighbor and her mom have tried it and are having success losing weight... it is expensive, almost $300 for a six months supply, but I just wondered if anyone else has had success with it?

Fat Secret and Privacy
Don't worry about privacy concerns here. Don't link this site to Facebook. You can go by a nickname - Miss Poof if you wanted to - who cares? There are some original nicknames on here. You don't even have to post where you're from - though people might get a general idea if they start to know you well. People are on here from all over the world. Generally, most of the people on here are quite nice - so do the utmost to keep your identity secret and you'll be fine. Just think of all the celebrities everyone knows so much about... someone asked for my email last month and I didn't give it out, it wasn't someone I was friends with or knew on here - so if someone asks for that info first be wary...

Is it reasonable to expect it to take up to months to loose on Atkins?
Icymaiden - I agree with you this is my fourth attempt at sticking to it I think, I lapsed for months - over 200 gms of carbs a day so the weight creeped up gradually, I know this works and need to stick to it, I am on psych meds that cause weight gain and high cholesterol, etc. Anyway, Atkins does work. I am being careful not to go over 2,000 calories a day. I take potassium and magnesium too to prevent leg and foot cramps. Powerade Zero can help with that but can get costly if you drink it a few times a day - it is like Gatorade w/o sugar. I have the book and am eating vegetables. I know how to do this right - got down in time from nearly 260 to below 195 - some years in there I wasn't doing it right, but everyone can learn. Now when I go out I get a salad - or if I go to Arby's for example will eat the meat w/o the bread. I don't like sugary things much - and must be careful not to eat snack food, sometimes I crave pretzels. Once I lose the weight this time I will buy the low-carb bread and pasta for maintenance. I need to read the book over, but know the basics well. Don't cheat - people say you can - it just stalls things for too long and to my knowledge does NOT kickstart anything despite the rumors...
