performance: losing 2.8 lb a week
I am 41 years old and live in central Texas. My past two yearly visits to the doctor revealed a fasting blood glucose level slightly above 120. Pre-diabetes may be bad but full blown diabetes is way worse. I don’t plan on going there. My doctor told me to cut the carbs and sugar and I didn’t hesitate to listen because I want to live a long fulfilling life.
So here I am, as of September 20th 2013, living a ketogenic, low carb, high fat lifestyle and tracking everything I eat here on fatsecret.com. No grains, no sugar, nothing artificial, nothing that comes pre-made in a package. I try to eat only real food for a "clean eating" lifestyle. I also try to drink a gallon (128 ounces) of water a day.
My goal is to be 10 pounds below my high school graduation weight of 175.
Before I eat something I ask myself a simple question.
"Am I about to eat nutritious real food, or is this a "food-like" substance that I want to eat because it tastes good?"
If I can’t honestly answer the question with "nutritious real food", then I don’t eat it! So much of what we put in our bodies these days is not even real food. These processed "food-like" substances are simply short term enjoyment which our health ends up paying the price for. If it’s not nutritious food, don't put it in your mouth!
Below are the supplements I started taking when I started the keto lifestyle. As of October 5th I am completely off my prescriptions of prilosec, metoprolol and simvastatin.

L-carnitine - 500mg - Heart Health, Energy Production
