I'm 36, from Wisconsin. In the last 10 years, I've gained 70 lbs. I was always active but I became very sedentary as I got older and my jobs changed. I've been on a journey to lose weight my whole life. In the fall of 2009, I really started to understand that I had been rebelling against my body by carbing up and trying to run. I learned about cortisol and carbs and stress and how all of those things make you resistant to weight loss, and keep you fat. I live a low carb lifestyle and actively practice Proformer Pilates, which I definitely attribute to my success. I'm 1/2 way to my goal weight, and am determined to not only be healthier, but look better.

trying the atkins
This is confusing, isn't it? The issue many of us have is the "calorie in, calorie out" (not true by the way.) It makes us want to count our calories. Toss that myth out ASAP. If you eat when you are hungry, and until you are satisfied, you will be naturally getting the right amount for your body's needs. Focus on good, healthy fat, 6-7 oz. of a protein per meal and lots of veggies. You'll be golden!
