I'm a 31 year old, female, divorced, Correctional Officer at a federal prison in east central MN. I joined this website after stumbling upon it a few weeks ago. I have struggled with weight my whole life and in July 2008 I had gastric by-pass surgery after I topped the scales at 345lbs. An aweful lot more weight than my 5'2" frame could handle. I have gotten down to 209, back up as high as 226 and hope to be at 170 sometime in the near future. I feel so much healthier since losing the weight I have and I know I will feel that much better once I reach my goal weight. It doesn't hurt that I look better too! I'm always looking for new friends and new adventures!

weight loss surgery
Julie: As someone who had the RuNY surgery 4 years ago all I can say is it was the best thing I ever did in my life. I weighed 345 lbs before I had the surgery; I am now at 221 lbs. Yes, I still have some weight to lose. Yes, I still struggle with being able to lose. Yes, it was a difficult process. My one and only regret is that I did not do it earlier in my 20's. Every person is different in how their body reacts and changes, and just when you think you've got everything down to a science your body decides to change things up. Years ago I was anti weight loss surgery, then I went to an informational seminar at the hospital and I knew that it was exactly what I needed to do. I wish you the best in your journey and hope you make the best decision for you. Feel free to add me to your buddies or message me personally if you want any other info, I'll be glad to share Smile.

Working out
Thanks for all the feed back everyone! I have many things to think about now. I was hinting to my bf about the Turbofire set, so just maybe I might have a gift soon. He's pretty good like that. Smile

Working out
Wondering if anyone has tried the work out program Turbo Fire? I have seen the infomercials and am interested in it. It looks like it would be kick-butt and fun. I need something that I can do at home but before I go investing in $140 worth of DVD's, etc. just wanted to get some feed back. Of course on the website there is nothing but praise in the reviews. If you've tried it I'd appreciate your input. Thanks, Tasha.Wink

Rewards
Hey all, I think that a reward system for mini goals is a good way to stay on track. Just wondering what people's suggestions are for no-food rewards after meeting small goals say at 10lbs, 15lbs lost, etc. Of course new clothes are always great but I want to save a big shopping trip for when I reach my goal weight. What are your thoughts?
