I am a 37 year old married mom of 3 kids. I've struggled with my weight all of my life, and looking back I see that my weight and size were just right for me years ago. I'm short and stocky, so at 5'0", 130 to 135 lbs was my "healthy" weight that I maintained for many years. I thought I was just HUGE in a size 7!

My highest weight was 215. I had LapBand surgery on 11/24/2010 and lost 50 pounds by my anniversary date. As of today, I have have about 36 pounds left to reach my goal. I have lost the majority of my weight since finally getting to a good amount of fill in my band (9.6 cc currently).

I'm finally at a weight where exercise is much easier than before. I mainly take walks with little bits of jogging/running, and now my husband has even joined me on the health wagon (finally!). We have added juicing to our daily routine, using organic veggies and fruits as much as possible, and we are adding more activities to our day to get off the couch and out of the house.

So far, so good...looking forward to when I can say I'm a size 7 again! It is right around the corner, lurking over there by bikini season!

Other Sources of Protein...
Cottage cheese and yogurt are good protein items for breakfast. I usually have a protein shake (like right now I have 1/2 an Atkins protein drink and add 1/2 scoop of protein powder). It seems like I'm getting plenty of protein in every day - I'm always over the minimum that my doctor has for my desired weight. I'll have sugar-free non-fat pudding for my sweet tooth, which also gives me more protein from the milk.

weird things you see people do at the gym
This thread is hilarious! I'm glad I'm not the only one who has noticed these oddballs! Here's mine:

Several years ago I worked at a 17 acre fitness facility - more like a country club. Part of my job was to give tours of everything, including the locker room, to prospective club members. We never new what we would encounter as we led the unsuspecting customers into the locker room. One day I'm showing the lockers and towel service to a couple of ladies, when one completely naked woman emerges from the lockers and begins blow drying her hair at the mirrored vanity area right next to where we were standing. Next thing you know she is blow drying her armpits, which were completely unshaven...then, she proceeds to prop her leg up on the vanity stool and blow dry her nether-region! Fluff was just blowing in the wind!

I could have died of embarrassment. I mean, you expect you may see people changing in there, but she just took it to the next level! Needless to say, I cut that tour short and hightailed it out of there!

Confession Time...what's your secret?!?!?!?
I just saw so many cute tall boots that are coming out for the cold weather, and I realized I can't even get them up over my calves. I had planned on getting a pair of Ugg boots to keep me warm during football games, and ended up having to get the low ankle cut ones because nothing would fit on my calves! So I'd love to be able to not be limited in the types and styles of shoes (or clothing) I can wear.

Also, my son is graduating this year, and as a mom of a teenage boy, you always hear comments about the "hot moms" - and knowing you are no longer one of them really sucks. Not that I want his teenage friends to think of me in that way, but I guess it just brings up that old feeling of being excluded as the big girl, not being considered in that good-looking category. Along with graduating, there will be family events to plan and that too makes me nervous. I don't want to feel like I'd rather just do a small gathering than have everybody see how much weight I've gained over the years. I always feel like that is the secret topic of conversation at gatherings. I can't enjoy myself because I think everyone is just so shocked at my weight.

I also just found out my 20 year reunion will be held this coming summer. I want to be able to show up and feel good in my skin, not embarrassed and uncomfortable. At our 10 year reunion, I specifically remember one girl who had gained so much weight since high school and it really is a shocker to people who haven't seen you in years. I don't want to have someone remember me like that this time now that I am the one with the weight.

Finally, I've secretly always wanted to be able to jog or run - I never have been able to do so. I want to work up to jogging if my body will allow it once the weight comes off.

excess stomach fat
Bingo wings! That is hysterical! My son calls them "floaties" - like the ones you wear in the pool!

I think skin is really controlled more by genetics. I lost so much weight after having my first son, that even after hydrating, working out, moisturizing, and everything, I had a bunch of extra skin that I could do nothing about on my stomach. At that time, I didn't expect I'd ever have more kids, so I had a mini-tuck done. For me, I already know that when I get to my goal this time, I'm really going to have work ahead of me! I will put in the working out and the waiting to see if I have any luck, but I'm not afraid to get myself "tailored" if I have to. The first time it was one of the best things I ever did for myself. It made such a difference not having that little pooch sticking out whenever I saw myself from the side - I never had to suck in my stomach anymore...it was perfectly flat.

measurements
I think that is a great idea! I would love to be able to enter measurements and see the graphs for those too! And while they are at it, how about adding a goal tracker (aside from the ticker) so we can add our mini goals and track how close we are to getting there. I just love all the other features, so these would make it even better!
