This is my January 2015 update. after about two years on this journey to be healthy I'm 60 pounds lighter and in better shape. I still have a long ways to go on the fitness and it will be a lifetime to keep that fitness and weight. I used have chronic pain and what a difference!!

This journey has changed my life in so many positive ways. It's not just a weight loss journey but one to face all your demons and in the end be a more positive person feeling good about yourself and your world.

I love to cook all kinds of natural foods and delve into many cuisines. I'm a leftover health food nut from the 70's who has always loved exploring cusines from all over the globe. There are all sorts of interesting foods to try. I've been busy exploring vegetarian dishes from many parts of the world, I've discovered some new favorites and ingredients that are new to me.

I work full time as a customer service rep for a mutual fund company, a mentally exhausting desk job. Not a dream job but it pays the bills and has terrific benefits.

I am currently single 65 yo with 9 grandchildren, 1 great granddaughter, and another grandson due in June. I spend alot of time at grandkids sports events and in the summer attending mud runs as one daughter and her husband race and fishing for catfish with another son-in-law.

I'm slowly remodeling my house and most of the year work on my yard and gardens, one of these days I'll get both so I'm happy with them. It's part of my journey to feel good about my life. I'm a professional longarm quilt artist but my little business (used to be fulltime) is on hold while I concentrate on my remodel. Hoping to get back to my passion my the end of the year.

I live with a chatty and very onery Quaker Parrot and a little girl boston terrier mix born 3-31-13. She's a very active character-wish I had her almost never ending energy.

I bet that was interesting.. Rice and beans are a staple for me as well now, LOL . My choice though. I've learned a lot of new things in my 60's! This journey into getting healthy has been huge!

Trouble Increasing Stamina
mummydee's advice is usually wise. Do you have any health issues in your way? Those can have a huge impact.

I have lung issues and arthritis issues so I walk, I jog on a lower impact trampoline inside. Any type of jogging would not have been an option for me a year ago. I have very gradually raised the bars on walking so my lungs can handle the stress. I have guidelines from my doc from stress tests.

Mummdee, I didn't know you lived in a 3rd world country. Where were you? I spend time researching ways to eat using plant based proteins, many are considered 3rd world countries. The flavors they add are sometimes amazing!

I agree it amazes me the plan I'm living now compared to several years ago. I'm so full and healthy on much less and much less expensive food.

I live on a camping ground at the head for the 3 trails west, the California, the Oregon, and the Santa Fe. I think often of what those pioneers endured. What they ate, how they lived, what affects the sometimes violent storms had on them with no warnings like we have now.

I also try my best to appreciate the variety and access I have to so many different food options.
