This is my January 2015 update. after about two years on this journey to be healthy I'm 60 pounds lighter and in better shape. I still have a long ways to go on the fitness and it will be a lifetime to keep that fitness and weight. I used have chronic pain and what a difference!!

This journey has changed my life in so many positive ways. It's not just a weight loss journey but one to face all your demons and in the end be a more positive person feeling good about yourself and your world.

I love to cook all kinds of natural foods and delve into many cuisines. I'm a leftover health food nut from the 70's who has always loved exploring cusines from all over the globe. There are all sorts of interesting foods to try. I've been busy exploring vegetarian dishes from many parts of the world, I've discovered some new favorites and ingredients that are new to me.

I work full time as a customer service rep for a mutual fund company, a mentally exhausting desk job. Not a dream job but it pays the bills and has terrific benefits.

I am currently single 65 yo with 9 grandchildren, 1 great granddaughter, and another grandson due in June. I spend alot of time at grandkids sports events and in the summer attending mud runs as one daughter and her husband race and fishing for catfish with another son-in-law.

I'm slowly remodeling my house and most of the year work on my yard and gardens, one of these days I'll get both so I'm happy with them. It's part of my journey to feel good about my life. I'm a professional longarm quilt artist but my little business (used to be fulltime) is on hold while I concentrate on my remodel. Hoping to get back to my passion my the end of the year.

I live with a chatty and very onery Quaker Parrot and a little girl boston terrier mix born 3-31-13. She's a very active character-wish I had her almost never ending energy.

Desk work / Long hours
I also have a desk job and am stuck there all day. I find squeezing exercise in also dificult. I go to the gym in spurts when the grandkids sports schedule eases up. I bought a WOSS suspension trainer that I use at home often, I try to do the full body workouts often following TRX youtube videos. I really feel so much better when I do get exercise in. It's just myself and the dogs at home so I am trying to get to an ice rink near my work a couple days a week, weather and time permitting.

Tosh, whatever you do it needs to be sustainable for you on the long haul to work. Not a "diet" with and end game but something you can do for life. Something this journey has taught me. That is echoed by many people on this site who have lost and gained over and over like I have. It has to fit your life and help you feel good

I'm a 66 yo gramma have lost nearly 70 pounds on my own plan as low carb made me feel sick all the time so I couldn't follow it for long. Turns out it's the high fat and lots of meat that was making me sick. I'd lose weight then gain back more than I had lost.

@ 192 pounds and a leg with a major injury many years ago I had trouble walking and was staring down a knee replacement, constant arthritis pain in my ankles and living on pain meds. It was a slow journey but lost it over about 2 years by careful portions, eating almost totally whole natural foods, lots of veggies, adding many legumes and whole grains to my daily diet over time. I averaged over a week max calories were 1200 though many days ate less.

My way of eating lots of vegetable proteins and little meat is filling and nutritious. I also added strength training on doc's advice. Maintained my 128 weight for 1.5 years and am mostly pain free. As a plus my migraines are rare and my asthma is more under control, blood pressure is down, and my blood work terrific. I am able to do so much more and life is so much more fun. I definitely like size 4 jeans better than 18. I actually started ice skating again recently and am loving it!!

I had to try my own plan that fit me and tweak it along the way. I upped my calories to 1400 but only seem to get that high when I'm eating meat. Mostly maintenance is around 1200 or less for me. Exercise for me is now a very important part of my life as is tailoring my eclectic way of playing with food to more vegetarian options.

My journey has taken me through many things both physically and emotionally. I've so much especially with the help of so many friends on here. Some I miss because they are no longer chatting, I wonder how they are.

95% of people who lose it, gain it back!
Citydweller, cute pup. Changing habits are essential but can be so hard. Jovial thanks for your nice comment.

I have learned many things on this journey. One is that if your WOE and exercise do not fit yours and your family's life it won't be a forever change. This journey also affects absolutely everything in your life. It can mean facing the demons that have haunted you as so much of this journey is in your mind. Without the right mind set it will also be doomed for failure.
