This is my January 2016 update. After about three years on this journey to be healthy I'm 65 pounds lighter and in better shape. My WOE is now easy for me as it was never a diet but a plan of eating that fits me. Diets do not work. I still have a long ways to go on the fitness and it will be a lifetime to keep that fitness and weight. I used have chronic pain and what a difference!!

I love my suspension trainer!! TRX videos on youtube are my go to's for exercise at home. My house is slowly turning into a mini gym though I also have a gym membership. I've also started ice skating again after 20+ years and I'm loving it!

This journey has changed my life in so many positive ways. It's not just a weight loss journey but one to face all your demons and in the end be a more positive person feeling good about yourself and your world.

I love to cook all kinds of natural foods and delve into many cuisines. I'm a leftover health food nut from the 70's who has always loved exploring cusines from all over the globe.

I am currently single 65 yo with 10 grandchildren (2 are steps), 3 great step great grandchildren. I spend alot of time at grandkids sports events and in the summer attending mud runs as one daughter and her husband race and fishing for catfish with another son-in-law.

I'm slowly remodeling my house and most of the year work on my yard and gardens, one of these days I'll get both so I'm happy with them. It's part of my journey to feel good about my life. I'm a professional longarm quilt artist but my little business (used to be fulltime) is on hold while I concentrate on my remodel. Hoping to get back to my passion my the end of the year.

I live with a chatty and very onery Quaker Parrot and a little girl boston terrier mix born 3-31-13 and a hound mix rescue pup born in July 2015. Both of my pup girls are very active and funny.

Low Carb Diets - Do they work for everyone?
Nope they don't work for everyone. Sure I lost weight, gained that and more back quickly because I couldn't stick to it. The plan with that much meat and fat made me sick to my stomach. I devised my own plan that fits the way I like to eat and cook tweaked it along the way with lots of whole foods: whole grains, beans, veggies, nuts and seeds and a smattering of animal proteins but those only occasionally. Lost approx. 70 pounds and have kept it off for 3 years. I've gained 4 pounds back as work has been catering in lunches daily since we have been working through them and I have been eating them more than I should.

Sometimes there just aren't enough rocks
If you are looking for something sweet go for fruits or some vegetables like baked winter squash or pumpkin. Oh so yummy this time of year. I make them for me and eat them for desert. Jicama slices provide some crunchy sweetness as do red sweet pepper slices.

Weight loss for the older woman
There are more measures than the scale, also over 60. I lost 65+ pounds slowly over 2 years and have kept it off since July of 2014 when I hit my goal. Changes that made me happy were clothes fitting better, more energy, less pain, when I noticed I was no longer limping all the time (old knee injury) and I no longer reached for a cane to get around my house in the morning when I woke up stiff. Those were huge!!!

It takes time a perseverance to obtain a lasting healthy weight loss and a healthy toned body. It's a life change to commit to healthy eating and exercise forever.

Why you don't lose weight?
Felipema, this thread sort of started in the middle with no initial post to indicate what it is about so that may have been deleted somehow. There are many people who have been and are on this site who English is not their primary language. Most of us here in the states only speak American English, and those like me are envious of those who speak multiple languages. Soo please do not be intimidated.
