Hello! My name is Deborah but my friends call me Deb! I am happily married with 3 sons & 2 daughters. My goal is to lose weight & get healthy. My plan: 1) healthy diet, 2) more exercise, 3) better sleep, and 4) reduced stress. Somebody said that. It's good!

In January 2013, I weighed 233 lbs and I was diagnosed with diabetes. I began watching my carbs and calories, eating a low fat diet, and avoiding sugar. I began to walk more, starting from 300 steps a day and slowly increased it to 5000 steps a day (2.5 miles). When I joined this website I weighed 202 lbs. What a great site, with such encouraging members! After losing 44 pounds, my A1C was 5 (normal) and my doctor told me that I can stop taking the diabetic pills and cut my cholesterol pills in half! I am so happy and I continue to eat healthy and exercise daily so that I will not have to go back on the Metformin.

Giving up the scale?
Weighing every day keeps me on track. If my weight is up a little, I walk more that day. I weigh every day, but I only record my weight here once a week.

LADIES - Buying Bras while Losing Weight
Can't you just adjust the hooks? I was using an extender on my bras and when I lost weight I just didn't use the extender anymore. Then when I lost more weight, instead of hooking on the last hook I started using the first hook to make it even smaller. Will go to the dressing room to try on a smaller bra in privacy. I usually buy just one and if I like it I will buy more as I can afford it.
