Hello! My name is Deborah but my friends call me Deb! I am happily married with 3 sons & 2 daughters. My goal is to lose weight & get healthy. My plan: 1) healthy diet, 2) more exercise, 3) better sleep, and 4) reduced stress. Somebody said that. It's good!

In January 2013, I weighed 232 lbs and I was diagnosed with diabetes. I began watching my carbs and calories, eating a low fat diet, and avoiding sugar. I began to walk more, starting from 300 steps a day and slowly increased it to 5000 steps a day (2.5 miles). When I joined this website I weighed 202 lbs. What a great site, with such encouraging members! After losing 44 pounds, my A1C was 5 (normal) and my doctor told me that I can stop taking the diabetic pills and cut my cholesterol pills in half! I am so happy and I continue to eat healthy and exercise daily so that I will not have to go back on the Metformin.

Struggle: weigh 225 lbs ✔ Stopped eating desserts, BMI 41.15
1st goal: weigh 218 lbs ✔ Obese now, BMI 39.87
mini goal: weigh 197 lbs ✔ Stopped drinking diet soda, BMI 36.03
mini goal: weigh 188 lbs ✔ Why did I pick that number? BMI 34.38
Surprise: weigh 186 lbs ✔ Doctor stopped my diabetic pills! BMI 34.02
mini goal: weigh 175 lbs ✔ Weight before I had children, BMI 32.0
Surprise: weigh 171 lbs ✔ Doctor stopped my cholesterol pills! BMI 31.27
2nd goal: weigh 164 lbs ✔ my BMI is below 30; 29.99 now!
mini goal: weigh 163 lbs ✔ my BMI changed to Slightly Overweight
mini goal: weigh 150 lbs ✔ Random number that just seems good; BMI 27.43
mini goal: weigh 143 lbs - Another random number; BMI will be 26.15
The GOAL: weigh 136 lbs - BMI will change to 24.87, Normal or Healthy weight

Hello I'm new ... with questions.
FatSecret has my RDI set 125 calories higher than my armband pedometer monitor, so FS is a little more generous. Maybe FS wants to make losing weight not as strenuous or less painful. I rarely care about the RDI. I am more concerned about staying under my daily carb, sugar, and fat limits and reaching my protein and fiber goal.

I don't know what to do
If you don't want your mother to notice that you are dieting, just eat the things you normally do, but eat less - eat smaller portions. If you are eating 5 pieces of bread with your meal, just eat 1 piece. Instead of 4 cookies, eat only 1. Instead of 2 sub sandwiches, eat just 1. Do your walking and other exercises. Good luck!

I Need Tips for beating sugar addiction.....
If the nutrition label says 1 gram of sugar, I eat it. If it says 2 - 5 grams I ask myself if this is going to make me stop losing weight. Above 5 grams of sugar I really won't eat it. So I would eat a small date, but a Medjool date is almost 16 grams sugar! If I eat more than 50 grams sugar a day, I would be diabetic again.
