Hello! My name is Deborah but my friends call me Deb! I am happily married with 3 sons & 2 daughters. My goal is to lose weight & get healthy. My plan: 1) healthy diet, 2) more exercise, 3) better sleep, and 4) reduced stress. Somebody said that. It's good!

In January 2013, I weighed 233 lbs and I was diagnosed with diabetes. I began watching my carbs and calories, eating a low fat diet, and avoiding sugar. I began to walk more, starting from 300 steps a day and slowly increased it to 5000 steps a day (2.5 miles). When I joined this website I weighed 202 lbs. What a great site, with such encouraging members! After losing 44 pounds, my A1C was 5 (normal) and my doctor told me that I can stop taking the diabetic pills and cut my cholesterol pills in half! I am so happy and I continue to eat healthy and exercise daily so that I will not have to go back on the Metformin.

i do not get it.....
If people log their food and study their diet calendar, they can see what they are doing wrong. I always watch the protein column to make sure I get the recommended daily amount. You need that protein to keep you healthy. If your fiber is less than 25 grams a day, you have problems with irregularity. For me, the sugars column says it all, because I need to keep the sugars low or I will become diabetic again. A woman who lost a bunch of weight said keep the sugars column 50 grams or less each day. I try to maintain that.

i do not get it.....
I have had buddies who suddenly deleted all their buddies. It seemed that they did not want to share their weigh ins or what they write in their journals. If they are embarrassed to let people see, then we cannot support them nor write any encouragement or advice. It's ok. Maybe when they lose some weight they will change their mind and share their journal and weigh ins with their buddies.
