HCB's Journal, 30 July 2015

Greetings Buddies:

So, tweak, tweak and tweak some more! My food plan for July was eating increased carbs and additional calories to see if I could continue to lose at the same rate as prior months.

Answer: A GIANT NO.

I averaged about 32 total carbs per day - about 11% of my daily intake during July. I think I lost about two pounds the whole month. Don't get me wrong - I am happy to lose more fat...but I have lost up to five pounds in one month.

So, tweak, tweak and tweak some more! My food plan for August will be to get the total carbs to average 20 per day, and keep the calories within my RDI. The carbs will be about 8% - 9% of the daily intake in August

Let's see how it goes for me. I have a soft goal of hitting the 160's by October...hope I can do it.

Celebrate your successes and do not dwell on less than perfect days. Move on!

Words of the Week: "It does not matter how slowly you go as long as you do not stop."
I am dedicated, determined and diligent.

It's all about tweaking as you lose. Your body uses less calories to move it around with less weight. Pick up a bag of something that represents an amount that you have lost and see how much work it takes to carry it. Hit home last year I had lost over 50 pounds and was hauling around 40 pound bags of compost and soil. I was exhausted pretty quickly, opted out using the wheel barrow. ...

I have no doubt you'll make the 160's by October. That's a whole 2 months.

Yeah...we do have to tweak things as time goes on. Good approach making changes and sticking with them long enough to evaluate results. You can make your goal and we're pulling for you. :)

Keep going, up got this! If you haven't done so in a while you may want to adjust your RDI to match your current weight. That way you can keep on losing.

Your calories are already averaging around 1200.

im trying tweak too and continue my OWL journey so started a journal so I can review my trends water/carbs/exercise and I've been averaging between 17-35 net carbs a day and still losing. I've learned that if im high in carbs one day its ok as long as I work out, I still lose . ALSO one think I learned is that I cant plan to eat higher in carbs bc when I do i go over board kinda like a licence to overeat , so I kinda just let it happen. If I eat berries today, no nuts and if I have Greek yogurt , don't eat either. Its a wonky system BUT it working and the weight is still dropping. And as long as a I walk/work out, I'm fine. Good luck to you and thank you for always being such a rock for me.. your a great role model and I couldn't haven't gotten this far with out your support !

Nice work. It's cool that you're disciplined enough to moderate your carbs and calories without spinning out of control, and I'm certain that you'll find your perfect balance (and make your goal).

The constant need to change things up can keep it interesting, right? It would all be too easy if what worked one month worked forever. :) Good luck with the August plan.

Have you considered lowering your calorie intake? At 5'0", you can probably get away with 900-1000/day. Most women I know at that height eat very sparingly unless they run marathons or teach aerobics/kickboxing classes several times a weeks. Anyone at your gym that you could ask?

SoonSoonSoon - the female trainer at my gym said based on my activity I should be eating 1800 calories each day! NO WAY would I lose weight eating that high...because I eat LCHF, it seems like it is more than it really is because fat us higer calorie - like avocado, coconut oil, olive oil, etc.

Try increasing your protein levels significantly for muscle preservation during your bodyfat reduction.

Yeah, disregard the trainer's calculation. I was talking about asking an ordinary woman who's your height what she eats to maintain her physique - not the aerobics instructor.

You have done a phenomenal job with your weight loss journey. You, better than anyone else, know what is best for your body and how it will react to different foods. Your tweaking has been most successful. Your tweaks encourage the rest of us to fine tune our WOE. Thanks for inspiring!

@BIGHOUSE - I am doing a ketogenic approach and part of that plan is to limit protein because the liver eventually turns any extra unused protein to glucose and I am currently running my body on ketones from burning both dietary and body fat. I do appreciate what you are suggesting - I have done high protein before and I did not lose.
