Who am I...good question! In short, I am a very "young" 70yr. old woman who has been blessed with a life of adventure. My current adventure finds me retired in West Texas. My husband and I ran an agricultural spray business in a small rural community. He flew and I did the booking, etc.

Before West Texas, we lived aboard a beautiful big boat in Galveston, TX for six years...that ended with Hurricane Ike decided to take her for a cruise to destruction. For now, we are land-based and dreaming of our next lifestyle change.

In my former life I lived in the Chicago area and was a teacher/principal for 35 years. We have a daughter who is married and lives in Chicago with her hubby, their precious daughter and one cat. Our youngest daughter attends University of Notre Dame and is involved with Navy ROTC.

Weight has always been an issue for me...however, it has never prevented me from doing things that I wanted to do...lately, however, I have begun to think that maybe I need to think more about my health in order to extend my opportunities for more adventures. Losing weight seems to be the key so here I am working the LCHF approach and feeling healthier every day.

My goal is 160 pounds...haven't weighed that weight since I was 19. However, I have been close since the age of 19 and realize that it is attainable. But for today, I am content to see numbers on the scale continue to be lower. I didn't gain all this weight overnight and know that it is not going to come off in one big drop...wouldn't it be nice, however!

I live the thought, "this is a day the Lord has made, rejoice and be glad with it." I know that if I stay the course that I will see the results I want.

Who said Cheat Days were OK?
Just watch video and he confirmed what I suspected....no cheat days if your want the machine to burn. Thanks for the post. I hadn't followed Dr. Berg so can add him to my list or resources.

For those of you on Low-Carb diets
I think there is a lot of confusion about what actually is LCHF and how it works. A lot has to do with which school you come from...the school of calories in, calories out or the low carb/high fat. My DH has cancer and we have learned a lot about how cancer reproduces...it loves carbs and particularly sugar. Without those two ingredients cancer can not survive and will die. I am diabetic, I was able to reverse my diabetes with a LCHF diet. There is too much good info out there supporting LCHF. A great site to learn more about it is dietdoctor.com For many years I believed calories in calorie out was the only way to lose weight, etc. But it never cured anyone of cancer or diabetes. The only purpose it seems to serve is weight loss...I personally prefer to follow an alternative way of eating that will also benefit my health in numerous ways. BTW, I loved MIM's but for now our doctor has banned the microwave from our diets but that is another story for another time.

Struggling? Refined Sugar is actually MORE addicting than cocaine and heroine...
Thanks for the excellent post. Since hubby's cancer diagnosis we have really had our eyes open to the high price of sugar consumption. Sugar is one of cancer's main fuels....We have eliminated every type of sugar except that which is natural in whole fruits. Your post just confirmed our conviction. Thank you.
