Klynn82's Journal, 15 February 2018

My boss comes in today and asks what we are having for lunch. I suggested a few things and he goes "arent you getting sick of eating this way? I would miss bread" and I got to thinking about that. Missing bread.

When we miss someone, it is because we had an emotional connection to them. We cared about them, we wanted them around and we miss them because of how they made us feel.

I found that to say that I miss something, like bread, pasta, candy, puts power in the hands of the item that I miss. I have no emotional connection to a piece of white bread, to a spaghetti. Why do I miss it?

Because of the addiction. The addiction to sugar, the addiction to the processed crap that was going into my body. My mind thinks it made me feel good, so my mind wants to tell me I miss it.

I dont. I realized that when he was talking. I dont miss something that I never had a connection to. Do I like the taste of garlic bread? Of pasta? Of course I do, but I am better off without it.

So the answer is, no, I am not sick of eating this way. I am not sick of eating meat, cheese, eggs, avocados, pickles, and things that are better for me. I am sick of trying to justify why I am not eating these things, I am not eating them because I am tired of being unhealthy. I am tired of not being able to climb the stairs, or run, or jump rope...those are the things I miss. Not bread.

Never bread...

Truth! I find I don't miss certain foods so much, but I would have to say I miss the freedom to eat whatever I want whenever I want and as much as I want with impunity. But I love the keto foods and how I feel when I'm eating this way - great!

Very well stated. Good for you! I am no longer posting what I ate here. I have an app on my phone that I use. I will log my weight still and check in to see how others are doing on their journey to better health.

Yes! This is the way we do it! What we can have is so much better than what we can't.

Very well said. I so agree with you. It's easy to fall back into the "carb addiction". I guess we just have to take one day at a time. Good for you!

I'm so much happier eating this way, but that doesn't mean when my co-worker comes in with some Jack In The Box that I don't miss it. The difference is, I have to think about how much I already don't miss the - not feeling well after eating too much or the not feeling well when my body doesn't process what I threw into it or the feeling of being so sluggish or tired all the time or - the list goes on... I would much rather "miss food" and not miss all those feelings than cave and have those foods again. Thanks for the great post!

I find "better solutions" to things I miss..a healthier option, let myself have it in small quantities, and be over.....missing it. Like flax sprouted bread, Ill let myself have a slice, usually with seed butter or avocado toast, and I can convince myself..there you had some bread , now lets move past this.

LOve LoVe LovE this statement... "The things I miss are not being able to climb stairs, not being able to dance, not feeling pretty, not being able to buy clothes I like, not feeling healthy, not feeling good about myself, or confident.. those are the things I miss. Not bread."
