I am a 45 year old mom of 1. I am a realtor, enjoy fishing, travel, animals and cooking. My favorite things to cook are new recipes or trying to make unhealthy ones healthy. My new favorite ingredient is cauliflower as I can use it as rice, potatoes, pizza crust and just raw and cooked many different ways. My main objective is to try and limit the amount of sugar that goes into my body so I read labels very closely. I have even just started making my own seasoning blends and sauces so that I know what I am actually eating. I don't eat many things out of a box or bag anymore and stay away from things that list more than 5 ingredients or things I can't pronounce. That didn't happen overnight so if you are attempting to change your lifestyle don't do it all at once or it won't stick. Little changes every couple months really do add up.

I was diagnosed with Graves Disease 2 years ago. That's a thyroid condition. Anyone with thyroid conditions can already feel my pain. My goal is to attempt to fix it by healthy eating, exercise and alternative medicine. My endocrinologist thinks I am nuts but he is willing to let me try it my way as long as I continue to take my meds.

anyone else having problems with portion counting in restaurants?
If I go to a restaurant I look it up on the computer before I go so I can plan out what I can have and how I am going to order it. That saves me time in advance. I can just say "I would like the 8oz chicken breast grilled with no butter and can you cut it in half, box it up and bring it to me that way and yeah, no croutons or cheese on the salad and no dressing (I take my own fat free cheese and dressing with me.)

working out, incoming calories are less than my outgoing calories, and gaining weight
I tried to look at your food diary but couldn't find it. My guess would be that even though you are eating less calories they may not be the right calories. Any sugary type foods are empty calories and serve no purpose so if you are having too many of those then your body thinks it's starving and will save weight. Get rid of the sugars and add lots of fresh fruits and veggies and proteins. That way the body has fuel so it will be able to burn it.

Hello
I was at 187. My long term goal is 149. I look for challenges on here that I can do that are healthy weight loss challenges to help with the small goals. I started Aug 15 and the challenge was to lose 20 pounds by Halloween. Another one corresponded "Lose 30 by Xmas" so I joined that one too! I am at 171.5 and soon to to back in the 160's for the first time in 3 years. Remember...slow and steady wins te race. Go slow and make small lifestyle changes so you can maintain the weight loss. Best of Luck!

FINALLY!
I am so glad to have found this site! It is so easy to figure serving sizes and calories thats it's easy for me to start seeing which days I am satisfied and what I ate that day. Hopefully this will be the extra hepl I needed to start getting back in control. 30 pounds in 12 months should be doable...hopefully.
