I always seem to get close and then go back to my old ways. That has to stop! At the age of 32, I think I've finally realized a 5'0" girl cannot eat anything and everything! I have to really work just to get my calories burned for the day up to 2000. So, I must be conscious of everything I put in my mouth. I must make activity a part of my daily life. I must stop looking at this as a diet. I can never go back.

Everyone thinks it should be easy to change your lifestyle when you're single because I don't have to worry about anyone else. But it's not that simple. I'm not a great cook and the convenience of the drive-thrus have been a big downfall. Bars are my other obstacle. That's what my friends do. If I stop going out, then I become a hermit. I lose weight staying home, but I get depressed and feel like I have no life. So, the struggle for balance is on-going.

Quinoa - Ever cooked it? What are your thoughts?
Quinoa also freezes pretty well too! I have a different black bean recipe that I make in a double batch and freeze in ziploc containers for a quick lunch to take to work! The store I shop at only has one brand of quinoa, the Bob's Mill...or something like that. And I have to go to the health food section to find it. I've been told that you can buy the bulk/unwashed quinoa at places like Whole Foods, but I haven't been there.

Noraneko, there is no need to apologize! I was writing a journal the other night and realized that I don't like myself very much sometimes. I put too much of my self-worth into my appearance. It's amazing the things this journey of trying to improve ourselves will make you see about yourself. I see it as a good thing though. If we realize these things, we can work to correct them and then focus on what's really important. Of course you deserve you flap your arms around and get the absolute most out of that Zumba class! You just need to remember that and conciously remind yourself Smile

Swtheart, I don't know how you can stand to wait! It sounds like you have a whole brand new kitchen in boxes. I'm too much like a kid at Christmas, I would have to try out at least a few of them. Smile
