I am a 55 year old female who has always been overweight but active. Until about 4 years ago my weight did not interfear with my activities. In the last four years I have had rotator cuff surgery, knee replacement and foot reconstruction surgery. Now I feel the effects of the weight and need to "Get it Off".
We love to camp and I love sports. I also like to read, crochet and cook. I work as an administrator for a non-profit agency that has programs for at-risk youth. I have been married to the same wonderful man for 31 years and we have three great children (19,23,&25 years old).
I am updating my bio and starting new. I haven't been using FS in the past 9 months. Serveral things have happened. A couple of life changing events, plus gaining 24 pounds back and being diagnosed with diabetes! I can no longer do weightwatchers (to confusing while counting carb exchanges). I have my diabetes under control, A1C is 5.9, but I have not lost a pound in the past 3 months (actually gained 4). My doctor told me that I am to hard on myself and need to relax and as the Nike saying goes "just do it" so I am going to take his advice.
First Goal 10% weight loss.

Pick and Stick
Great post. I have been using this strategy for several months. I have steel cut oats for breakfast and a healthy frozen dinner or soup for lunch at work 90% of the time. Weekends and lunch meetings are the exceptions. I am using the Weight Watchers points system and this allows me approximatly the same amount of points each day for dinner and snacks. Oh yeah, I take a cup of yogurt an an apple to work each day for a snack. Smile

Wanted to let you know that I am praying for and thinking about you two. My wish is that you will heal quickly, Imluuved. Mom, I know that you are also feeling her pain and I pray for peace of mind for you. Hard to be a long distance mom! Been there before!

Hi, Red Hot Beach Bod Buddy! Good question, I often wonder the same thing. I'm from North Carolina (foothills)and my name is way to self explainatory. Karen is my name and fit4life is my mantra/goal! Can't wait to keep checking your post! Cool

Just a Question
I just bought the new 2008 food and dining out companion at a local weightwatchers group meeting. I called the leader and she said that anyone could come in before the meeting started and purchase any of the WW materials. The books were $20. for the set. Hope this helps. Wishing you the best. Wink

RED HOT BEACH BOD'S TEAM!
I would have to ditto what everyone has said about the challenge and the team support! Thanks to all for sharing your trials and triumphs! This challenge has really kept me disciplined. Maybe we should all find another challenge and request the same team, they probably would not allow that, I'm sure we'd be known as the "Dream Team".Cool
