chesgreen's Journal, 06 November 2017

I think I suffer from depression. Not getting enough sun. I just want to eat. Broke my 95 days of logging food yesterday. I have a bag of peanut M&Ms in front of me and I already had 2... make that 3. It is only 8:37 AM.

208, TWO ZERO EIGHT!!!!!!!!!!!! Might as well keep going and make that 210 or 220. Why stop now. Bye bye 6 pack for summer of 2018 and here comes the big fat guy ready to get sand kicked on me by the little kids when I take a nap on the beach or ever worse, maybe some one will yell "Roll him back in the water, he's suffocating"

Why, Why?

Sugar is my friend.

My BP is 160 over 100 --- What the hell?

I dunno anymore.

COACH!!!!!! I came over here to ask for a butt kicking to get back into strength training 'cause I've gotten soft. --- How's your sleep? Are you drinking enough water? Can you talk to your family doc about this? --- Sugar contributes to inflammation, which can interfere with antidepressant function. YMMV. --- Any way you can book a weekend somewhere warm and bright to look forward to?

Oh man. Not m&ms. Chocolate is ok; I started my day with 10g of minimally processed very dark chocolate, and it felt AMAZING. Get something quality for when you need that taste of happy.

I've also been there many many times, people like you gave me the inspiration of keeping at it , even when I was down..I was racing you for a long time to get past the weight goals, and you did not even know it..Now it is your turn to catch up with me..Be STRONG WARRIOR and stay with it..

You're allowed a bad morning, but know it's temporary. Do you take supplements? Because vitamin D may help. Also it feels great to vent, so get all those emotions out. But you've come way too far to give up... sending you happy good vibes!!! Also try meditation or yoga or some feel good music... hope your day gets better!

Only the weak give up. You are a coach, you are strong my friend. Don't start feeling sorry for yourself. Get those calories down to 1500 and you will move in the right direction, promise. I gained muscle and lost weight on 1500 calories over the course of 9 months. Your body will cannibalize the fat on Keto to build muscle. But it will only take the fat from your body if you starve it external fat.

I meant starve your body external calories.

Ches, sometimes this weight (fat) loss thing is easy and sometimes it is very, very hard. Sometimes the fat seems to melt off and for sure that is not only encouraging but invigorating... life is grand. When the opposite happens, not only do our efforts feel in vain, but we can get defeated.."what's the use...this is pointless, etc" That is when we most need to stage an "intervention" with ourselves...it's your future health and quality of life that is on the line here, not six pack abs!!!! I am in your future self's corner Ches, shoot for every month being better than or at least as good as the one before...your future self will thank you. Take care!

Remember that the WOE is what is important and how you feel. Don't defeat yourself- kinda like never winning at solitare. There is always the next deck. We are all "mental" in some way. Think positive-for yourself and no one else. You are truly an inspiration to others who are just starting on this adventure and the older ones who are still there.

What's with the pity party? So you had a few M&Ms. big deal. One or a few days without logging isn't a big deal either. We are talking about a lifetime commitment. Stick with what works for you. I do urge you to seek a sustainable diet. It will take some of the drama out of your journey. You have done well. The last ten pounds are the hardest and most rewarding. The good news is that it will set you up for successful maintenance...

Alright!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You guys/gals saved me before I threw in the hat. I am a FIGHTER! Logged EVERYTHING for Sunday. It was 2135 calories not so bad, 173.61 net carbs, BAD!!! I am turning it around right now. I went up to the cafe now for a salad with 3 hard bolied eggs and some chicken and a medley of other real foods that I logged. Real foods are the key I need to stay the hell away from processed foods as much as possible. What crap! I think I have to lay off the booze (it will be hard) for a bit. No "Thirsty Thursdays" this week and I will use this as a reset.... My body needs it. I will win. I will make you proud. I need to heal. I need to move my body more. Your support is priceless. Sorry for this vent but I got really scared with my blood pressure reading last night and started to worry a bit. The fact that I give others hope is dear to my heart because I love helping others. The torch was getting low but I just put some fuel in it, raise it high and ONWARDS I GO!!!!!!!!

Dont worry Giving up is WORSE than putting on two pounds 🏋️🏋️🏋️ No matter what diet you are on, or how strict you are, everyone always cheat Little bit least one day a week. Every day once a week Just think about it, yo didn’t put all The weight in a week so you got to lose it slowly persistence is key

It's funny, I had a no booze weekend and lost 2.6 pounds. I don't want the junk food so much or maybe it's more I can control myself better. You can see how much everyone here wants you to succeed so ONWARDS YOU GO is a great attitude!

Hey Ches, please don't give up...this happens sometimes, in Germany we call it a "Fressflash", means eating till you're nearly give everything away...tomorrow is a new day 👍👍👍

Ches, awesome response!! I am proud of you for giving up some booze for a bit. That is going to help hugely...that's exactly what I have to do when I see things going in the wrong direction....couple that with a bit more intentional activity and you WILL be rewarded for those changes. The next time this happens (and it will) you'll have one more tool to keep on track. BTW, if you want one more "trick" that is really effective, let me know and I'll PM you.

Ches, Thank you for your courageous example here today. It is so easy to line / list / and count all the successes. But it takes a large heart like yours to share the set backs You, as we all know, are a rock here at FS. Please take a deep breath ...buy one of those lamps for "SAD" disorders....it does work for replacing the summer sun. I know, I know ,---it isn't the summer. But I understand it does work. We need you here. We want you here...And you belong here. The best life lived ...is lived today....projection about next summer is just one insidious aspect of our troubles around food.

So glad you responded Ches - your posts are always so motivating and it made me sad to read your original post. But you are human and suffer the bad moments just like I do and did recently.

Make sure you are using a large cuff for BP if you have big arms and check both arms. Use a health professional - those machines just DON'T work in the pharmacies and at home. Hang in there - you are on the right track.
