I've always been an "all or nothing" person when it comes to diet and exercise. I'm either very good or very bad. When I am eating good, I am exercising. When I am eating junk, I'm a couch potato.

It's really hot where I live this time of year so I am not walking like I would like. I spend the somewhat mild early morning at the dog park which is good exercise for Bobby but not so good for me. I do have a treadmill which I find boring but am beginning to use again. Each day that I stick to a good eating plan I will keep adding minutes to my time on the treadmill.

I probably have 20-30 pairs of pants, mostly jeans that are 1, 2, or 3 sizes smaller than what I wear currently. And I only have 2 pair of jeans that I can fit into now. As they wear out I replace them. I haven't gone down a size in 5 years. I have lost 25 pounds or so at least 3 times in the past 5 years. But it will take about 30 pounds to get in to the next size smaller pants. I know it's usually about 10-15 pounds to go down a size for me, but I am wearing what I have pretty tight right now, can't face the idea of going up another size.

I'm trying to lose 50 pounds and once I do that I'll set the next goal. I don't really want to diet, just want to eat much smaller portions. I have exchanged the mug I usually use for my daily hot chocolate (don't drink coffee) from a 12 oz mug to 6 oz. That's one change and I'll keep on making changes for smaller meals with healthy snacks in between

Resisting the urge!
I've had Chinese food 2 or 3 times since I started this journey in July. The place I go to gives so much food! I usually get the lunch special with fried rice and one main entrée - usually chow mein or sesame chicken. Since the amount of food was so much I stretched it into 3 or 4 meals and it didn't hurt for long. Maybe a day or to. But I have to resist every time I take a trip to Costco (an hour + away) and NOT stop at the Chinese restaurant on the way home.

what is your goal weight, 5'3 and 5'4 ladies?
I'm 5'3 1/2", age 62. My ultimate goal will probably be around 130 but will be happy to stay under 135. When I was younger it was easier to stay in the 120's but in my late 40's and 50's (until I started gaining) I was able to maintain between 132-137 for a long time.

Cholesterol and fat concerns
Glad to see some replies, but not from anyone following keto. I don't think my cholesterol is high enough to be a worry at this point, but I want it to be within normal ranges. I'm avoiding things that have high amounts of cholesterol such as egg yolks, shrimp and beef. It isn't hard for me to keep it below 200mg a day. Actually I don't think I even reach 100 normally. But I look at food journals of some people and se over 1000 mg of cholesterol when people are eating 5 or 6 eggs plus all kinds of processed meats. I know years ago when I went to Weight Watchers they suggested not having more than 4 eggs (yolks) a week because of cholesterol, but they've changed that. I think there is some disagreement about eggs. Little Red, I've thought about talking to a dietician. Just want to see if losing weight and eating healthy will get the inflammation down within normal guidelines. I'm hoping to be at my goal weight by my next doctor appointment in June.

I need more calories!
Try 1/4 or 1/3 or an avocado or some almonds. I actually sprinkle 2 tablespoons of chopped almonds on chopped avocado. Both have good fats.
