A letter to myself (and FS warriors);

I've tried dieting enough to know that it will never work. Lifestyle change is KEY! It's hard to say what it is that one absolutely needs to do to follow their correct path to healthiness... with so many twists and turns, absolutely no one can tell me how to get to where I want to be other than ME!

I've cut out a majority of processed, refined foods and began listening to my body. As I listen to my body, I try to understand why I feel the way I do, why I CRAVE the things I do, and finally, why I fail sometimes at keeping true to my intentions. It's a rough, rocky road but it must be trekked at some point if I ever want to thoroughly live past 60! I want to be able to climb mountains to see sights unimaginable, to ride a bike along a city street and feel the wind in my hair and not feel self conscience about what my butt looks like on the tiny seat, and maybe even feel what it's like to cross a finish line after a 10k race... It's all very exciting to think about, but what makes it all so exciting is knowing that it's POSSIBLE. Anything is possible through dedication. And I will dedicate, oh will I EVER dedicate!

An important thing to remember to do is FORGET, unless a medical adviser tells me other wise, about time. Just forget it! Healthiness is not measured by how long it takes one to get there. I'm gunna love the SH*T out of my never-ending journey! Just remember the effort, the sweat, the lost fat and keep pushing! If this is a war between me and the accumulated fat on my body, I will WIN.

There's no need to be mad at myself when I know I'm trying the best I can... And even when I'm not, I shouldn't get upset. That just means it's time to remember why I'm changing, for the better.

I wish I could leave work right now and run a mile, haha. <3

Awesome! THAT is my method. I have gained so much muscle in the last year through dedicated exercise and healthy eating about 80% of the time. I can do full body pushups at age 59 (never could when I was young) and use 20-25 pound dumb bells for my weight work. My resting heart rate is amazing and my blood pressure is in the low normal range! Do it to be healthy and the body changes will just happen.

The only way I was ever successful was to log every bit I ate. The Barcode scanner helps so much more now. Also, having a food scale helps, and measuring portions. Other than that mostly eating whole grand (pasta, bread), meat fried in pam or baked, or barbecued worked wonders. Before that I failed so many times, and crash diets would make my weight go up and down constantly.

Great attitude! You only lose, when you give up, and failure is not an option! Keep fighting the good fight knowing that total victory is only a matter of time. You got this, and keep up the good work! :-)

Needed to read your post today :) I keep catching myself going off my diet, taking "days off" going back to old habits.. I just need to focus on the consequences if I continue to give in to all the food cravings.. :\ Death.

Good for you, with such a positive attitude, YOU CAN DO THIS! The most important thing is to realize that this can't be just a diet. It MUST be a LIFE LONG CHANGE in your eating habits, & TOTAL COMMITMENT to eating healthy & keeping the weight off once you've lost it. This is an AWESOME group, with some wonderfully committed & successful people who have lost some serious weight, & have learned some very valuable lessons along the way. They will gladly help & encourage you as you go along. I wish you total success, & happy, happy times ahead. GLAMMER
