Things are going just terribly. Eating such a low number of calories is almost impossible. And to make matters worse, assuming that I really do lose 2lbs/week, because of all the weight I've gained, it'll be 11 weeks before the weight loss matters. Because I'll have spent the last 10 weeks just trying to lose the weight that I've GAINED BACK. I have no clue as to how I'm going to stay motivated through this. Everything I want is so far away. It's fucking Day 5 and I already want to die. The only thing that keeps me motivated is knowing that time passes whether I'm dieting or not, so during the inevitable passage of time, I may as well diet.

Is it possible you are eating too few calories?

you can do it, don't give up!

Take it slow - don't rush yourself. Also, eat too few calories can cause your body to hold onto fat. Make sure you are eating enough or exercise to create the calorie deficit.

Sounds like you're pretty stressed, don't give up. Any weight loss matters when that's what you're trying to accomplish. Losing it the right way seems like a slow process. Try to look at it this way....however far forward in time you want to project - 10 weeks, 20 weeks, whatever - you'll feel and be so much better lighter, healthier and happier. Right now that might seem an eternity away but it's not. I don't have any quick fix suggestions....but try to be careful what you eat to get the most you can for the calories you're eating. Stay away from stuff with lots of calories but little bulk or nutrition. Hang there, you can do this and get to where you want to be.

What is the calories that you are trying to stick to? I have limited myself to 1274 atm and i get to increase them everyday that I lose weight. I stilll get to eat crappy food like McDonald's and KFC as long as I can keep to the count. are you letting yourself eat stuff that you like? rather than just sticking to the boring healthy stuff coz that can be really demoralizing and make you want to quite but stick at it and you will see results... try an app called "monitor your weight". You put the amount of weight you want to lose in and by when and it tells you how many calories you should eat that day. I was 50lbs bigger then you but I have already lost 10lbs since the 23rd and am still going strong. Maybe have a look at that.

I'm with RLW, it does not look like you’re eating enough. I did some guessing on your stats to use the IIFYM calculator. I guessed you were 25 years old and were 5'5" tall. I plugged into the calculator these numbers (which should be close enough) and marked that you did no exercise and it says you should eat 1500 calories a day for slow weight loss and 1400 calories for faster loss. This assumes that you do no physical activity. Throw in 30 min of walking 5 days a week and your calories can go up to 1600-1700 per day and still lose weight. Eating too little can damage your metabolism and make it more difficult to lose weight down the road. Just try to remember, it’s not a sprint to lose the weight. Slow and steady does it every time.

If anyone wants to know my stats, I'm 5-8, starting at 160. My goal is to lose 130lb. I'm somewhere around 1100 calories, aiming for 2lb weight loss/week. Am I eating too few calories? Definitely! Lol. But I figure that losing weight quickly outweighs the benefits of being able to eat more. Thanks for all the encouragement, everyone!

Problem is sometimes our bodies don't agree with it, you have take in enough calories otherwise your body freaks out and stores the calories you DO take in as fat....I've always been told you should never go under 1200 cals in a day otherwise it's very likely that would happen...

Hey Kenni! 1100 calories may contribute to rapid weight loss, but it's no wonder that you're miserable. Especially if you're incorporating exercise into your weight loss regiment. If you want to put this into perspective, doctors recommend that active toddlers should be eating between 1000-1400 calories a day. Most dietitians recommend that women of average height don't dip below 1300 calories a day. Since you're on the taller side, going below 1400 calories a day would be unsustainable. I would try to adhere to 1300-1600 calories day, depending on how active you are. Also, incorporating more fiber such a as whole grains, cruciferous vegetables, fruits and healthy fats will make you feel fuller longer. Hope this helps!

I think 1400-1500 calories a day would make you happier with your diet. You will still lose weight. That’s at a couch potato activity level. If you walk or move a lot during the day you can eat 200 or so more calories and still lose weight. It's hard to remember sometimes that the extra weight did not appear overnight, it took a while for you to get to 160, it will take a while for it to come back off. So just sit back, relax, enjoy some more calories per day and be confident that you are doing things the right way. You do not have to suffer to lose weight and be healthy. I hope to see you sh**ting rainbows in a month. :)

This could be my journal entry this week....well, more like every week. I'm so frustrated too. I hope it helps to know we're in this together. :) Keep at it.

Losing weight too fast will sometimes set a person up for a fail. Your body rebels. You get cravings for the wrong foods, skin sags, muscle tone goes, health issues happen. Online info suggests losing 1 to 2 lbs a week which gives the body time to adjust and also helps control binges. As others stated, it is essential to get enough calories to keep the body and mind working efficiently. You need to concentrate on living life, not on being miserable about losing weight. Eating whole foods and healthy fats (sparingly) will automatically make the pounds drop off as long as you stay under a sustainable calorie count. Occasionally you will want to enjoy a "junk" food. I have a special weakness for pizza lol.

eat ten grams of peanuts every day, and you'll feel better. (*lol*) It may sound as a funny remark, specially after your thread a few days ago, but peanuts really do give your brain all the nutritions it needs to stay focused and happy...
