A shocking loss of another pound. Things went well in The Prune Department, and those of you who know me well for my constant gripes about regularity will know what that is a euphemism for.

Something very awesome that happened: I realized when I got so angry the other day, I didn't think even ONCE about food. I just felt the anger, wrote in my Journal, came on here and vented, got through it, did what I had to do, and it passed.

It's probably the first time in my entire life that the thought of eating down my emotions never even came into play. It took a little while for this to dawn on me, but now that it has, I feel like it's a HUGE step in the right direction. Being a lifelong emotional eater has been such a burden, and if this is the first step to getting past it, then WOO HOO!

229.0 lb Lost so far: 51.0 lb.    Still to go: 49.0 lb.    Diet followed 100%.

It's amazing. It's empowering. It feels "normal". I'm going to keep trying to be in the moment and experience all the feelings, even if they are yucky, just to avoid the thought of food when the feelings come. Thank you for the support.

Way to go! I suffer from the same type of eating and it's a huge win to recognize and overcome not emotionally eating. :)

I don't know you, but I'm on the prune bandwagon too. Have you ever tried coconut milk for the same thing? Not the processed kind, but the stuff in the can. Look up The Clean Gut - it helped me tremendously! From one constipated person to another -

Glad you are getting a handle on that emotional eating. Don't think we ever really win the war on that, but every day another battle won is one battle closer. Congrats on the pound. Prunes or no prunes, it counts!!!

I am soooooo happy for you, that's bigger & better than huge! I can so relate as I've emotionally ate my way for so long too. Re-wiring that brain pattern has been a goal for me as well, so taking a step in that direction without even thinking about it, is awesome! You are such an inspiration for me & I'm so glad to be journeying with you as we work to live & eat more healthfully! xoxox

Actually, you've hit the nail on the head. Losing weight to lose weight is empty and usually unsustainable. Having a serious emotion or fear involved is far more motivating and more likely to have a lasting effect. In other words, the reason for the weight loss must lay outside of the weight loss itself. Good job. (Not related to prunes.)

My mom uses a teaspoon of coconut oil to help her. I think the not emotional eating is a huge thing. What helped me with that was thinking about how I would feel physically after I at for emotional reasons. It doesn't feel nice in itself. That helps me to not get up and eat too. Being in the moment is hard stuff. You are a tough lady. :) Great job! So happy for you. :D

Thank you to all those who supported my triumphant "moment" when I realized that I could be angry and not eat it away. Also, thanks for the numerous PMs I got with terrific ideas on how to combat things in The Prune Department. Two big hurdles in one day. I am so grateful!
