Hormonal week for me...ugh I hate this cycle but at least I know to expect it every few weeks and that it will go away. It must be the hormones but I feel a bit down and unmotivated this week for no reason at all. Several neighbors and friends have recently commented on my weight loss—I’m glad to know it is noticeable but what do you say to people? It’s a little awkward. I wore jeans yesterday that have been my goal jeans for the past 4 years (yep I kept them) and they were sliding off me all day. I know I’ve made progress but self love is something I lack. I love you all and see your amazing progress...just not sure why I don’t see the positive in myself. I’m my own worst critic and rarely feel like I’m good enough in any area of my life. Stupid I know. Hormones...they don’t help! I will keep on like always though! This will pass. Have a good day. I love and appreciate you all.

In those awkward feeling situation, just say "thank you" then casually change the subject to that person with your own compliment or observation. Takes the focus of you & places it on them. You ARE doing fantastic, it's ok to acknowledge that. Hormonal week can be hell week, at least you know it's temporary!

I think a lot of us here have those same self love issues. I think about when I was smaller than I am now thinking that I was fat or couldn't wear this or that because I was too big, and now I wish I was that size, but also wonder if I get back to that size will I still feel the same way?? Just get through this hormonal time and hopefully things will start looking up. It's hard to change the way we think about ourselves, but I think it should be part of this journey too, to find the love that we deserve from ourselves.

Your post brought tears to my eyes. I understand. Sometimes all the compliments in the world simply fall on our own deaf ears, because the compliments do not match our beliefs about ourselves at the time. You know what's going on and you are doing a great job taking care of yourself, it just takes practice and sometimes it's too easy to go back to familiar behaviors. Sending you love and an imaginary non-calorie treat of your choice. <3 ;)

Momma, well . . . --- it may feel awkward to you for any number of reasons (some of which you've sort of indicated), but when somebody goes out of their way to compliment you, smile and say thank you! Receive it! This will do you a world of good! Also, scour youtube and find motivational or affirming videos you like. These might include secular and/or religious sources. Listen 30 minutes/day while doing various chores. This can begin to give you a different perspective and will help you begin to say positive things to yourself. Finally, realize that you're loved, deeply loved. Your husband loves you, your kids love you, your friends love you, and God loves you, and not only that but you are doing a great and monumentally important work caring for your kids. It's fundamental. Nothing more important. So, hang in there!

I was watching 600 pound life and the woman had a lack of self-love so the counselor gave her a mirror and told her to look at herself with "kind eyes" and describe some things about herself that were positive. She couldn't do it. I know I would have trouble with that exercise too. We all need to be more self-loving and acknowledge the goodness in our hearts and contributions to society. When I say that I don't mean in the form of accomplishments or accolades. For example, your spirit and presence in the community is a positive for all of us. That is just being who you are and sharing it and that means a lot to many of us! Another thing is how you share yourself with your family and friends. Your spirit and self are worth a lot.

I’m sitting in my car waiting for an appointment and crying my eyes out reading your comments. So much love and support from people I’ve never met...hope you can all feel how much it means to me. I will take your advice and work on myself. I feel nothing but genuine love and care from you all and this is why I’ve been able to get where I am with my weight loss. You make all the difference to me.

I am my own worst critic - that is so true. I think that my "event" really helped me get that process in perspective. I am still a tough critic - but I have begun to temper it a bit with some positive self talk. the journal here helps with that - I try to add what I have learned and where I succeed - I also add where I am not doing so well because it is about balance. I really appreciate your posts and your progress. I hope you enjoy your adventure today and that you find a belt.

As everyone has said, say thank you and, if you can, offer a compliment back. Then take note of the compliment and think about what they saw that they wanted to comment on. Look at yourself through their eyes without embarrassment and you’ll grow to love yourself too. You’ve come a long way so don’t diss yourself! Take care 🤗
