after talking about it for SO LONG, i finally joined!! now i need to get past my social anxiety and jump in and learn how to use the equipment...

No worries - PF is a very chill kind of place. People just do their workout and will not be looking at you

I have social anxiety as well. Going to the gym is my antidepressant, well it got me off of them anyway

Congrats! Get a gym buddy if you can. They're the best tool to keep you engaged past January.

If they are like the gym I go to they usually offer one free training assessment - it can be good way to get introduced to the equipment.

They have an orientation and a bunch of instructor led classes all free. I just wont make one until the 18th. But ill still go walk on my lunch breaks so that will be good

Its so cheap to go there ...they just have too many pulley machines at ours

I find that some occasions are better equipped than others but for the price it's fine. I find people are friendly compared to meat market gyms like gold's, power house etc

I went to a PF for a while. I didn't like that they wouldn't let me wrap a bandana around my forehead to catch the sweat, and I had to be completely silent while lifting. They also brought in bagels or donuts in the morning and pizza one evening a week. What I DID like was their equipment and the cleanliness of the gym.

Don't be afraid. I remember being so intimidated when I first started going to the gym. But the key thing is, NOBODY was born just ~knowing~ how to use the equipment! We all had to learn! So don't feel bad, or embarrassed, and there's plenty of friendly people that you can ask! Even the gym staff or personal trainers! Or look things up on YouTube! :D I'd go with you if I could.

The place that gives out superfood on the first Monday of the month. I have never made it for the bagels but I always take a whole pizza home when I am lucky enough to go on pizza evening. My Planet fitness is ran by some awesome folk.

Im sure once i do the orientation class ill feel better. Till then ill probably just walk/ run. It was definitely overwhelming. I also don't want to be just a "resolutionist" that quits after jan. Also, no pizza or bagels for me till running season :)
