chesgreen's Journal, 25 September 2018

47 days. What is it's significance? That was my last recorded weight entry on FS.

I have weighed my self my more than a handful of times and shared it here via uploaded images to journal entries however, I didn't put those weights up here because I wanted to see the chart go lower and lower for psychological reasons.

I've been logging consistently now for 2 weeks. My longest streak was last year for over 100 days straight and guess what happened during that time? I saw my lowest recorded weight 204.4 on 12/10/2017

Averages between Aug - Dec 2017
Calories 1866.7
Net Carbs 80.9

I wonder which of the was the most important for my body that got me the results or was it a combination of both, lowered calories and lowered carbs.

I need to rip off this band-aid and get on the scale tomorrow morning and put that number up here.

Maybe I should try 1600 calories and net 60 grams of carbs for a few days/weeks. I am trying to find a lifestyle not a diet.

What ever I decide, I simply need to do it and be consistent.

I've been on the fence too long and haven't committed fully to any particular WOE and that is why I've been stuck. PERIOD.

I am human and I will get better.

Are you documenting - given the different WOEs you've explored/modified - the affects (physiologically and emotionally) on your body? Just thinking... there's got to be some (specific) combination of processes that results in the forward momentum you're seeking - its buried, right in front of you (data)... just got to put it all together (all the King's horses, and all the King's men, right?)

Chesgreen, all the advice you have been given is good. However, I strongly agree with From371to184 that is is important to know which WOE made you feel the best while you continue to lower your body weight.

Thanks @baskington, agreed. Thanks @adefwebserver, I will stay strong. Thanks @From371to184 - that is a great point and I need to incorporate what I feel good or bad based on my experiments in my journal entries to see if it is something I want to continue or let fall to the waist side. Yeah, I have to dial it in.

My lifestyle(general rule of thumb) is if it comes from a bag, box or bag I don't eat it. I eat good fats, lean meat, and my carbs come from low glycemic sources. I treat white flour like poison, and I never (rarely) drink any calories. This I find obtainable since I've maintained my weight for five years. Here are my daily goals: Goal 40% Protein, 40% Carbs, Fat 20%. BTW, I no longer record anything since I did it so meticulously for over a year I gained a very good idea of what the values are of the foods I eat.

Thanks @Alnona, @jenjabba, @Girlychic_43. @adamevegod1, yes, real foods shall set me free. Good for you. All, I will keep trying, failing and adjusting until I find my sweet spot.

Finding that "sweet spot" takes a lot of experimentation and study. Then (I'm finding) just when you think you've got it figured out, aging throws another curve ball at you and changes the game. Being flexible helps - as long as you're not TOO flexible about dietary matters.

Thanks @trackin64. If I can be totally honest, I think I have been too flexible with quality of my foods. When I eat real, whole foods, I can eat less and be satisfied so end up eating less calories and I see the correct movement in the scale. When I eat fake foods, it is ridiculously easy to over eat and thus calories are too high and you know what is to be expected, scale moves in the wrong direction.

Ches, I suggest that you try your 1600 daily calorie goal. I would also plan to stick with it for a couple of months instead of weeks. I also suggest you run to the scale daily with a focus on trends and not that particular day's weight. You may have to make small adjustments from time to time. The scale will alert you to when you need to make an adjustment. I find that trading percentages of carbs with protein makes hitting my calorie goal easier. You are so determined and will get there with consistency...

Thanks @chrisw77, @John10251 and @murphthesurf. This is a journey, not a sprint and I will continue to grow and evolve. I will not be denied of my goals.
