I have been on FS since September, 2011. My progress has been really slow. It is time that I get serious and use the advantages of FS to get myself in gear. No excuses!

The thing I also have to remember is that it is a journey. The good news is that I weighed 219lbs five years ago and have lost 43lbs and kept it off. Now I need to write down goals so accountability will push me along! I have found a walking buddy so I hope and pray that we stick together. It is so easy to talk yourself out of things. I must write my goals down like others have done so I hold my own "hand to the fire." What I have been doing has not worked so far so I will start at the beginning! I am taking into account that as I lose more, it may go more slowly. So, here are my goals:

Sept.& Oct. 2012 Lose 8lbs. Weight 180
Nov. & Dec. 2012 Lose 6lbs. 176
Jan. & Feb. 2013 Lose 6lbs. 170
Mar. & Apr. 2013 Lose 6lbs. 164
May & Jun. 2013 Lose 5lbs. 159
July & Aug. 2013 Lose 4lbs. 155

My ultimate goal is to lose 40lbs. I want to map out my weight loss for the next year. By mapping this out by months, it does not seem so unachievable. Wish me luck.

Newbie....just putting it out there :)
I think you are just the right person to start FS and even cheer me on! Since you have overcome so many obstacles, I am sure you will keep your motivation. I, like you have been in the caregiving role for my Mom since she was in her late 80's and early 90's. She passed away in 11/2011 at age 93. What a cutie. However, she was always petite, ate something sweet every day of her life and never developed a weight problem. I lived with her for 20 years after my divorce. I miss Mom terribly but now I have control over what I have in my house to eat.

So, you would think I would stay away from the junk. It still creeps into my life because it is easy and quick. (Yes, the awful fast food trap!) I will be moving soon to a new condo and I have all of the stress connected with it. I must tell myself that I just take it one day at a time and be honest with myself and FS.

I send you Many Blessings as well. I need to expand my buddy list and I would love to have you join me? There are some super people. I am not a computer person, but I have asked for help and Sarah, (online name-I will get it for you) has been very helpful, practical in her approach and very inspiring. Kingkeld is really great, too. He has been on FS for a while and has done very well so his insights are wonderful as well.

Personally, I felt scared at first and while I have not been as successful as I'd like to be, I did not let go after my Mom died and give up. I think I lost two lbs. Not bad. So, while I need to get myself in gear, I like the fact that I did not give up. If I did not have FS to keep me going and all the info it provides, I believe my weight could have easily gone the other way.

Well, I have gone on and on, about me....Your entry is also impressive because of the exercise component. Do you do it in the am? I am a sleepy head but my family tells me to just do it!

Take care and I look forward to hearing from you again.

Cruise concern
I went on a cruise a while back. I do not drink alcohol but I did eat pretty much what I wanted without thinking about calories. I actually lost five pounds. What I did was drink a large bottle of Pelligrino water at dinner....maybe the bubbles or something helped with that! Of course the cruise was only for three to four days. I don't know if this will help at all.

Looking for buddies for encouragement
Hey, you described me in your post. I am new to the site and want to lose 40 to 50 pounds as well. I belong to a gym but my attendance is sporadic. My sister was supposed to go with me to water aerobics but she has a new job. That is no excuse for me but I use it anyway!!!! I have two challenges-one, not to eat after 7:00pm. Have been good off and on. My other challenge is no soda. That is really hard but I am drinking lots of water. I hope that helps with munching at night. Stress and emotions are part of it as well. I live with my 93 year old Mom and she has Alzheimers. She is a real cutie and I just have to be patient. Hope I have not gone on and on but I understand your issues!!!
