My name is Sierra and I was originally doing Atkins. I lost about 35 pounds, but then regained after jumping the rails last year. I finally was getting back on track when I had a gall bladder attack. After learning that low carb is a possible cause of gall stones I just gave up. Now I am making positive changes that I will hopefully be successful with.

I posted on Facebook not long ago about how tired I am of Dr. Oz. I'm sorry to anyone who thinks he's great, but IMHO he's no different than a snake oil salesman. I'm not saying that he doesn't know what he's talking about as far as other health issues, but when it comes to weight loss it seems he is taking advantage of people desperate for something that works. I don't watch his show, but every time I log onto Facebook I see a new ad for a weight loss gimmick that Dr. Oz is peddling. It seems to be a new "guaranteed results" "breakthrough weight loss" every time. One week it's cranberry extract, some fruit the next week, and who knows what it will be a month from now. I'm sorry, I don't believe anything he pushes. Again, just my two cents.

What a week of groceries look like.
Thank you for sharing it. It was very interesting to see how families in some other countries feed more people on much less. The American picture shows that most Americans do not eat enough fruits and vegetables and eat too much fast/processed foods. I was a bit shocked at the Mexican picture though. Did you see how many liters of Coke they drink? Granted, the Mexican version is made with real sugar instead of High Fructose Corn Syrup, but

I have always thought it made more sense to weigh every day. It makes it so much easier to pinpoint what you are doing right and what you may have done wrong. If you weigh once a week and you gain 2 pounds, how will you know what you need to change? Was it too many carbs or calories that week? Or could it be just water weight because you ate too much sodium the day before the weigh in? Weighing every day not only keeps me accountable,but makes it easier to see where I need to tweak.

Hi Zulu! Since the OP is on Atkins, a tsp of sugar would be a bad idea. Part of the Atkins process is to eliminate sugar and other simple carbs. Having sugar will actually make the cravings come back in full force. Most of us are addicted to sugar and telling a sugar addict who is trying to get away from it, is not unlike telling a heroin addict to just do a little to get over the craving.
