Performance: losing 6.3 lb a week

Goal Weight

Still to go: 5.2 lb

Update 3/16/2023 Last year I lost about 50 lbs, but gained half of that back (oy!) So I'm back at it, trying to regain that territory - mostly through keto and fasting - a combination of intermittent fasting and longer fasts.
I have been overweight most of my life. Now 68.5 yrs old. This weight loss has not been a rapid process. My highest weight was 280, which I hit twice, the last time about 6 years ago. I discovered I do much better physically and emotionally without gluten, so getting rid of that turned around the bad times for me (depression and weight gain). Eventually, I was diagnosed with Celiac after a genetic test. My success here has been a combination of the great community support, and the tracking of food and activity. I've been eating low carb and gluten fee for a long time, but the tools here allow me to do it more accountably. Also, many of the keto resources say that calories don't matter, but I do better when I also restrict calories. I've been having good success with time restricted eating (18:6) and longer fasts. I have a lot more to lose, but I feel optimistic and increasingly healthy. Aiming for about 150.

Still doing HFLC/keto. When I stick to it, it works.

Love to you all, you make this journey fun and I really appreciate your support!

I'm 5'6.5" and large framed. As of 5/1/19: 48" bust/ 39.5"waist/ 48"hips

How did I lose weight, but look fatter?
Hi NeddidChriss,
I saw this older post and wanted to reply. The magic of autophagy is what tightens loose skin. Go to YouTube and watch some videos. It involves fasting; your body will use up the excess proteins. It takes time and patience, but it works. Best of luck with it!

Looking for buddies doing Keto or LCHF
I'm also happy to add keto buddies. I'm a low carber, stay in ketosis most of the time. I've lost 80 lbs, but I'm now struggling with a plateau. My body seems to be taking a break from shrinking, so I'm letting it maintain for awhile, hopefully to resume losses soon. You can definitely add me to your buddy list. I've been on FS for about a year and lost 40 lbs in that time.

Do you find it hard to sleep on fasting days?
I'm finding it hard to sleep while losing weight on Keto. I'm not sure whether it's due to fasting periods, ketones in the bloodstream or the MCT oil. Or all three. I'm lucky to get 6 hours and often it's only 3-4. Weight loss has been slow too. The low sleep hours causes a rise in Cortisol, which is not good.
