When I was young I was a skinny as a rail but I have struggled with weight loss since the birth of my oldest child. I am a yo-yo dieter I have lost and gained the same 40 lbs for the past 8 years. I am hoping the Atkins Diet will be the lifestyle change that I can live with for the rest of my life so that I can keep the weight off and prevent any medical disorders that come from being overweight - namely Type II Diabetes.

Mini-goals:

220 lbs - 1/23/11
210 lbs - 3/19/11

Atkins..i'm trying really trying, but if i have to eat another egg or piece of meat i'm going to bar
Way to go sweetie girl - you tell them! If people lost weight and regained it they did not follow Atkins. If you follow Atkins correctly you learn your carb level for maintaining your weight and you will not regain it. Just like with any way of eating if you clean up your act and then return to your old bad habits you will return to your old weight. Pick up a book about the Atkins lifestyle or read Gary Taubes "Why We Get Fat". Educate yourself - Atkins is not about eating a high protein diet but rather a high fat diet. Your caloric intake should be 60-65% fat, 25-30% protein, and 10% carbs. It is also about eating the right kind of carbs - mostly veggies and some fruit not prepackaged crap that we call food. I have just recently started Atkins in January and have lost 25lbs with out feeling deprived or hungry. If you are feeling a little weak or having headaches drink some broth it will replace the sodium you are losing with all the trips to the bath room cuz if you are doing Atkins correctly you should be drinking a ton of water and making a lot of trips to the toilet. Atkins is not a diet it is a way of life.

Does craving every completely go away?
Chromium Picolate helps with cravings when on Atkins. If you still suffer from cravings though you may want to identify what food you are eating that may be triggering the cravings. For some people 0 carlorie sweetners are the culprit...some it is just psychological knowing that you aren't supposed to have it makes you want to have it.

Sugar Free vs. Fat Free
I am with K8y8 and MelbA, natural whole foods like real cream and natural cane sugar (not the white stuff) or stevia (NOW brand makes a great liquid version that tastes great and is reasonably priced)- you could add your own 0 calorie sweetner. The closer to real food it is the better. I say if you're going to drink the Speedway Cap. just go for it and control the size of your drink.
