I'm an almost 36-year-old mother to 6-year-old fraternal twin boys. I initially joined to lose post-partum weight. With the kids and other things in life keeping me busy (also being a bit of a slacker), it made some of the weight come back. It's time to refocus my efforts to get the extra pounds off.

Currently recovering from surgery for multiple labral hip tears, may need a hip replacement in the next year according to the doctors. Watching what I eat right now is my biggest concern while I'm laid up.

I'm a low-carb dieter, but don't bash those that don't follow the program -- it works for me.

NEED ADVICE: Logging in Calories Burned
This is why I invested in a Heart Rate Monitor. I walked for 2 hours and 35 minutes today, the HRM said I burned 1079kcal. If I logged it at what FatSecret says, it would have been 692kcal. A 387kcal difference is HUGE.

People on Atkins who get bad feedback from peers/family!
The sacred "high saturated fats and cholesterol causes heart disease" mantra absent ANY solid proof of the statement, yet, it's revered as a fact for some. I've learned to shrug them off, have done enough reading on my own about what I'm eating, and how exactly the diet works... because the whole "dietary fats are bad" thing once scared me off too -- and I regained 25 pounds or so from resuming old eating habits.

Stay on firm ground, and don't let others dissuade you from your path to success. Be confident that you know what you're doing, and if you're not -- research it!

OUCH MIM's calories
I keep toying with the idea of making a grilled bacon and cheese MIM sandwich. Definitely wouldn't need cream cheese for that one. Maybe a little bit of ranch dressing for some tang to it. Might do that for dinner tonight if the hubby does't come up with something first.

OUCH MIM's calories
605 calories for one of my more "decadent" MIMs (for when I know I'm not going to eat most of the day) -- coconut, almond, and cocoa. That's BEFORE the cream cheese... but only 5.76 net carbs.

Da Vinci makes a sugar-free, 0 carb flavored coconut syrup. Google it, there's quite a few suppliers (and options!)
