Just my introduction
Welcome to FS! I've been on here for a while and it's really helped me, I hope you find it helpful, too!

Supporting group...
I agree with Ceebee's assessment of your bf; your partner should be someone who supports you and helps raise your spirits, not someone who brings you down. It is cruel and wrong and you deserve better. And please know that you are valuable and lovable JUST THE WAY YOU ARE. First and foremost, the reason to lose weight should be because you want to do something better for YOUR health.

As to not having support, I can relate, although not because everyone is thin. In my family, everybody is fat. My parents are of the mindset that "not eating" = DEATH. And for them, eating healthy is an alien concept. I've lost count of how many times I've had talks with my mom to reassure her that I'm not anorexic or insane, and that what I'm doing will benefit my life. At times, she seems to buy it. At others, not so much. Oh, and she keeps buying me crap to eat. Just yesterday she brought me red velvet muffin/cupcakes and pudding cups. When I told her I wouldn't eat them and to please give them to someone who would, she was offended. So, yes, I know all about not feeling supported by those closest to you. It stinks.

One piece of advice I will give you is to use this site to the fullest. As in, input your meals and your weight, and pay close attention to the actual content of the food you are eating. I've learned SO MUCH doing this. It's helped me learn what sorts of foods I should be eating and also helped me figure out healthy snacks/etc. that keep me feeling full but don't overwhelm me with excess calories. The other thing is something you're already doing, which is to reach out to FA members by participating in the forums. It's amazing how supportive everyone is here.

Finally, please remember that weight loss is not a momentary thing, but a lifelong journey. If you're anything like me, you have to basically learn a new way of living your life. It takes time, and persistence, and patience.

Good luck, and major internet hugs.
