My weight loss journey started Aug. 15, 2013. That day I weighed in at 249.6. I panicked. And immediately joined to Atkins. My weight loss there was super slow, it took me 3 months to lose my first 11 lbs. Then for 3 more months I lost nothing. Around this time I found low carb, high fat by www.dietdoctor.com/lchf. And it was similar to Atkins so I blended the two.

On Jan. 30th I started intermittent fasting, and I lost right away 1.6 lbs. I was hooked. I have since that time lost 12.4 lbs so on my feast days I eat low carb, high fat. And on my fasted days I have water, diet pop, coffee w/ heavy cream, and sugar free popsicles and jello. My calories are under 400. Technically a fast is straight water, mine is modified to help me get through the fast. It works.

It's taken me 9 months to lose 33.4 lbs. My weight loss journey is going to be a long one. I need patience, and persistence.

Mental weakness D:
When I first started on my road to weight loss I often found myself in the kitchen looking for something to eat though I was not hungry.

Then I started fasting and learned what real hunger feels like. I made it habit to exit the kitchen if I knew I was in there un-hungry and hunting for food. Now I do not do that anymore. I did watch quite a bit of movies to help me get out of the mental lock of looking for food.

I must admit I love intermittent fasting.. I've learned true hunger and how to be satisfied with water when I need to pass on eating. I also look very forward to feast days! And pizza days..lol. No crust, but lots O'toppings!

Sleep
I used Valerian, it didn't work at all for me. Benedryl (generic) worked great. Laced with Melatonin ... zzzzzz.

Sleep
I have problems sleeping. I use Benedryl tablets. They are designed for allergy, but it is the exact same ingredient in sleep aids. But if you buy the sleep aid its much more expensive. So I buy the generic Benedryl allergy tablet, and I take it with melatonin. It really works great. I have bipolar and I had to go up in milligrams with the allergy tab, for it to work better for me. So I take a few tablets of generic benedryl along with melatonin and I sleep very well.

Fat Fasting
It's a 1000 calorie diet of 90% fat. The 1972 Atkins book explains how to do a fat fast. Here are some entries of the book: 1 ounce macadamia nuts or macadamia nut butter. 2 ounces of cream cheese or Brie. 1 ounces of Tuna or chicken salad w/ 2 teaspoons of mayo served in one quarter of an avocado. 2 Deviled eggs made w/ 2 teaspoons mayo. 2 ounces of sour cream and two tablespoons black or red caviar.
2.5 ounces of whipped heavy cream topped w/ zero calories syrup. 2 yolks hard boiled w/ one tablespoon mayo.Each of these equals about 200 calories.

You can take one or two of these and have it through out the day, 5 servings to equal 1000 calories eat every four hours. It HAS to be high fat, 90%. Do this for five days.

YES, I tend to freeze when I fast. My hands and my feet. Wrap up. Least you know its working! Smile
