I am sure you have all seen the news footage by now so you may know as much as we do.

We are off today to help dig silt and raw sewerage from my brother in laws house and the road in front. Better than sitting around waiting for aftershocks and getting depressed watching the footage on tv. Please pray we don't get sick and that our car doesn't get stuck in the huge holes in the road on the way.



Another long night of aftershocks. Thankfully we have power and we now have running water (still not drinkable). Sewerage will be a problem for possibly a very long time, we just don't know. They are pumping raw sewerage into our rivers just to cope. We still have to go to the bathroom outside.

My husband's sister's house has split in 3 parts. Many houses are destroyed.

40% of the city is still without power and 80% without running water. They are trucking water, foot and petrol into the city.

The hotel we stayed in for our honeymoon is due to collapse at any time. 26 stories high - our second tallest building in the city.

Our city is pretty much destroyed and we are finding it very hard to cope emotionally. Lack of sleep is not helping. Gee we should be good at this by now right?
