Draglist's Journal, 06 January 2015

Came home at 204.8 after a 203.8 waking weigh in. Ate 995 calories at work. Had fun at work exiting into the stairwell from my third floor office, walking up to the eighth (top) floor, and then walking down eight floors to the lobby. I did that twice and will try to do it hourly tomorrow. Interestingly, I hit my peak heart rate while climbing the last few floors, but I EXCEEDED it by 12 bpm when I was rapidly descending! Interesting…

I was all set to eat about 1500-1600 calories today, but my sister sent a late holiday treat from Harry and David -- Moose Munch caramel corn with chocolate and peanuts. TOO delicious. I ate a half cup of that. Ate some lean pork and some Brazil nuts. But of course as soon as the sugar hit my system I became ravenous! I ended up eating a few more handfuls of the Moose Munch, but then pulled myself away and ate a bag of spinach with some Bolthouse farms dressing. I was about to attack the popcorn again, but I went for another handful of Brazil nuts instead. It was quite a battle! I drank a Diet Cherry Pepsi to try to satisfy the sugar urge some more.

Finally, I realized that there was no way a non-workout day was going to support the calories I had eaten. I have made a pledge with myself that I will adjust weekend indulgences by Monday night. So at 10pm, onto the treadmill I climbed. I was going to do 30 minutes but I started doing the math and admitting to myself that the caramel corn was really more like a cup than a half cup. I stayed on for the full 60. Showered at 11 and got an OK 204.4 post dinner, post workout weigh in. Let’s try this again tomorrow! PS: The remaining caramel corn is being given away.

Great job. We have a low side (7 floors)and a high side stairway (36 floors) in my office. Today I will mix it up with a friend. 7:20 AM now. Will walk down from 3 (coincidentially I am on the 3rd floor as well) to ground floor, go back up all the way to 7 and back down to the 3rd. I love the hourly idea. Go for it Bill!!!

I couldn't stop eating our sweets from the holidays so I also gave them away, out of sight, out of mind!

That's what I do also. If I'm gonna indulge then I'm gonna exercise more even when not feeling like it. It just has to be done or there will be a weight loss stall.

Back at you Bill, did 2 round trips on the stairs today all before 9 am, 770 steps total and my legs feel like jelly. Keeping up with you is HARD but my weight will melt off. You are an inspiration.

The holiday treats are killers. I think ours are all gone, if there's any left at least I don't know about them which is the important thing. Bill and Ches, great job on the stairs. Only 2 floors here. I try to take a trip downstairs, through the office and then around through the warehouse and back up the stairs several times a day, will get back to walking every day that permits at lunch when I can. 2 weeks ago we moved to a new location by the airport, there's nothing to block the wind, and if it's cold and windy a walk outside is brutal. Maybe I need to get a ski mask.

Doing it in my florsheim shoes, shirt, and slacks. Doing one round trip(314 stairs) is only 4 minutes so I don't break a sweat but I am winded for sure. Going for my 4th and final for the day right now.

Good job! Awesome stair activity. So... as it seems from the different comments, is there is a challenge in the works going on? If I have any more sweets here, they are hidden. I don't need to see the temptation :)
