Ruhu's Journal, 23 April 2013

I'm baaaaack! We had the most wonderful, amazing trip, and it meant so much to my MIL. Their family friend who is a priest at the Vatican was able to arrange a special "backstage" tour for us of the excavations underneath the Vatican and a private tour of the Sistine chapel & the Vatican Museum. Then. he himself toured St. Peter's with us and took us to see several other of the churches within Rome and the seminary where he lives. We also did a walking tour of Ancient Rome where we saw the Coliseum, Forum, Pantheon, Trevi Fountain, Spanish Steps, & Piazza Navona. So, we fit a lot in over just 3 days -- I'm exhausted just recapping it!

I loved every minute of the trip, ate mindfully for the most part (we were a bit rushed at times) & stayed my course sugar, lactose & gluten aware. Yesterday was the hardest & I did overeat some, but was up from 4:30 am Rome time/10:30 pm EST until 9 pm the nest day EST... so, 3 meals was not going to cut it. All & all, I'm feeling good, learned a good lesson reenforcing that praying & breathing & taking it one day at a time really works and am back on track this morning. Hope you've all been well & to catch up with you & your journals tonight or tomorrow.

So, will start my day in prayer --

God grant me the serenity
to accept the things I cannot change;
courage to change the things I can;
and wisdom to know the difference.

Living one day at a time;
Enjoying one moment at a time;
Accepting hardships as the pathway to peace;
Taking, as He did, this sinful world
as it is, not as I would have it;
Trusting that He will make all things right
if I surrender to His Will;
That I may be reasonably happy in this life
and supremely happy with Him
Forever in the next.
Amen.

And will pray, breathe, log, post & express one day, meal, moment, bite & emotion at a time. xoxoxo
