I'm a big believer... in praying, breathing & eating mindfully. This time my "lab" was Rome & the "experiment" was could I eat out every meal for 4 days & maintain my weight -- 3 days of delicious Italian food & 1 almost 24 hour travel day of 3 meals and 3+ snacks. And it worked! So, for me, I know I need to remember how important it is to pray, breathe & eat mindfully even when rushed, tired, stressed, etc.

There was one dinner in particular while we were in Rome that was beyond wonderful -- both the food & the view as we were at one of the highest points in Rome at a roof top restaurant that overlooked the city & there just as the sun was beginning to set. Even though I'd try to discourage him, DH decided to order the tasting menu for himself which had so many courses I lost count (6 or 7, I think). Needless to say, dinner took 3 1/2 hours after a full day of touring and never truly adjusting to the time difference. Several times during the meal, I found myself feeling frustrated, tired & ready to get on with it. But, praying, eating my 2 courses mindfully and a lot of focused breathing really helped! (So, another successful report to add to my not-so-scientific journal :).)

So, I'll start my day again in prayer --

God grant me the serenity
to accept the things I cannot change;
courage to change the things I can;
and wisdom to know the difference.

And, for this one day, meal, moment, bite or emotion at a time, I'll pray, breathe, log, post, express and eat my way mindfully through it. xoxox
120.0 lb Lost so far: 8.0 lb.    Still to go: 0 lb.    Diet followed reasonably well.

That dinner sounds wonderful, well the picture of the view sounds wonderful. I am sure you were very tired but your coping strategy worked. It sounds like it was a wonderful trip. And to have maintained your weight, after 4 days in Rome? Well, that's remarkable really. I need to remember to pray and breathe today - so simple and yet so easy to forget. Have an awesome day and I am so pleased that you enjoyed your trip and don't have to 'pay' for it - LOL.

I'll be traveling to Miami this June. I know I must be strong during vacation not to ruin what I've accomplished. You very much inspire me!
