tinast's Journal, 19 April 2018

My initial bio on my profile stated.......At 42 I found out that I had inherited the family curse of Diabetes. My goal is to reduce my morning sugar count without medicine and of course lose weight. Excersize has always been my downfall, I just don't like it! Walking is about the only routine I like and can stick with so that's were I'll start.

Update 2018
Here I am now, turning 50 in a couple of months and the diabetes has taking its toll. Been on insulin for about three years now and it sucks! Losing the initial weight did nothing to help control my A1C so unfortunately this is a new way of life for me. Still yet, I need to lose weight and after taking several years off from “dieting” I am now back on a low carb way of eating. This journey will never end and I have accepted that fact. So for all those out there struggling, just know you’re not alone and I understand!

The good news after all these years is that my long time man and I finally got married this past December so that was a great thing 😁.

Stay tune for more updated on progress, frustrations, and just life.

Try keto, I’ve heard good things about that diet with people that have diabetes.

You looked gorgeous! Many of us have had very good luck on lower carb higher fat and protein diets for controlling diabetes and getting off insulin and all the meds. You might listen to, The Obesity Code, by Dr. Jason Fung on YouTube or pick it up to tead at your local library. 🙋🏻 Good luck!

Thanks for sharing your story! You can do this! I lost over 95 pounds and I reversed those numbers that my doctor said won’t be possible. I bought a cheap road bike. I studied diabetes , I read so much about it. And I found out that the bike is the best way to go. Start every day with 20 week one, 30 min week 2 - 40 min week 3 .. increase that time to an hour when you feel you can. Reduce carbs , and sodium. Buy protein shakes ( muscle milk) , eat breakfast, don’t skip meals. No bread, no rice, no tortillas. No sodas . U can do it!

You look fantastic! Just focus on the health benefits of the low carb lifestyle. My father was a Type 1 diabetic for his entire life and it took its toll on him. I have no doubt that if we knew then about the benefits of a low carb lifestyle, he would have managed much better and lived a lot longer. I also have turned 50 in the past year but thankfully no diabetes. I am hypoglycemic but following LC / Keto lifestyle keeps it in check.

congratulations on your wedding - the nice thing on this page is that there are a lot of common threads - I was given the gift of type two diabetes right before Christmas - so far I have been able to cut my insulin requirement in half and maintain a healthy A1c. Diet and exercise have been the key. I wish you all the best on your journey.
