I'm tired of Keto aka Atkins. I'm tired of low carb, low fat. I'm tired of diets. I read one weight loss book over the holidays and he basically said weight gain was tied to the advent of processed foods. People have been eating fat and carbs for thousands of years. Somewhere along the way fat became demonized and now carbs. People are chowing down on processed meats loaded with sodium nitrites/nitrates (known cancer causing compounds) while poor old fruits have become evil.

I need to eat clean. I need to eat whole. Less processed the better. I lost a lot of weight the past year and made it through the holidays unscathed. Time to up my eating to lots of fresh fruits and veggies and eliminate their processed descendants.
177.0 lb Lost so far: 43.0 lb.    Still to go: 12.0 lb.    Diet followed reasonably well.
losing 2.3 lb a week

Good points: whole, unprocessed foods are best.

Houmdish— processed foods are the issue whether they are fats or carb. If you are able to start just eating healthier, not perfect, but healthier. Fewer higher glycemic carbs, more healthier fats, high quality proteins. Make small changes in your diet that still allow you to eat some of the things that you truly love in a portion controlled manner. Deprivation and exclusion of whole food groups does not work long term for most people. It seems that many people here cannot do that, but if it is within your ability to proceed with moderation, not deprivation, you will be able to develope a way of eating and living that you can sustain for the rest of your life. Don’t loose focus on your goal. Just reevaluate how might be the best way for you to successfully move forward.

I try and stick to single ingredient foods. I know this isn't the only way to lose weight, but i feel great eating this way.

Good thinking, but remember be careful with some fruits because they have sugar and pest spray on them.

I wash mine before I eating. Always a good practice regardless. People handle food.

I couldn't stick to those plans either, mostly made me sick. Do some checking into Mediterranean type WOE --lots of veggies and fruits, whole grains, healthy proteins including beans and legumes, healthy fats, staying away from processed. It's not restrictive but may give you some guidelines as to a healthy low processed WOE.

you are right...I lost 40 pounds in the last 10 months by eating clean, veggies, fruit , a bit of chicken and fish, even bacon if it wanted it. no junk food like chips and candy . I was not on a diet ...I ate what I wanted and didn't over eat. I did keep tract of how much protein I got a day and that's it...Also I do not have any loose hanging skin.

I’m off of all diabetic meds and down 150 lbs in 3-4 years now. I have always eaten a ‘modified’ Atkins or Keto. I’m also insulin resistant so this isa goid fit for me. But just because I’m Keto doesn’t mean I eat processed foods. LOL Very rarely do I have processed stuff in my diet. 🙇🏻‍♀️Normally only slip it in when I am feeling deprived of some treat. LOL Fresh veggies are the majority of my food. Meat is a flavoring or garnish...not the whole thing. 🤷🏻‍♀️Your body can only process 30g of protein at a time (one meal.) Trying to average to get 50-70g of protein a day, 64 oz of water, and enough fat so you feel satisfied with eating. The rest is veggies!💁🏻‍♀️

People need to do whatever healthy diet they can do for the rest of their life. Prossed meat isn't required in keto or Atkins. The hardcores advise against them...If it's not. for you though it's not. Do what's best for you.

Processed usually means added chemicals, hidden sugars and sodium. Normally much better on your body to reduce and/or avoid their use.

Me too, what you said. I am eating on the Mediterranean Diet and it is really working for me, and is pretty much what you said. I like the guidelines and the recipe ideas to keep life interesting. Best wishes!
