I love love the idea of finding "zero calorie" distractions.

Thanks, Chris! Aphids are horrible! I get them sometimes, but I have more troubles fighting constant fungus growth here in the NW. Neem oil helps, but goodness it is a ton of work to keep up with 13 rose bushes, which all want to cause me troubles! 😁

Thanks, Jeannie! Aboutmytribe, reading makes me want to eat! Bad habits from teen years curled up nibbling and reading die hard.

I bet the fragrance is awesome. I worked in floral shops for years many years ago and will always remember that fragrance of roses.

Gardening was my go to hobby in my forties and fifties. Now reading, knitting, and Red Sox baseball. Oh, and Tom Brady/ Bill Belichick football.

Reading and book clubs! Coloring and drawing random designs is my other distraction. It's also one of my social activities as the local library has book discussion groups and family coloring group that's open to single adults. Cat training is my more frustrating zero cal distraction

Alright, Bristle Cone! What else have you done? A University professor, NASA engineer, mountaineer, photographer, florist, running a non-profit... gosh that is a list!! Some of my roses are disappointingly fragrance free and all their energy seems to be used in looking pretty, but some have such powerful aroma. Each is very distinct. My apricot colored bush smells like honey to me!

EarthEspressos, you keep busy! Cat trainer? That sounds tough! Seems like you might burn calories with the frustration! I love cats, BTW!

sallkr3, I had to look up Plein air painting. Wonderful! Oils are so tricky I think and yet look so beautiful.

I can say that my hobby is the art of cosmetics, hair coloring, drawing eyebrows, make-up ..... My hobby that did not kill after having children. I was also interested in farming and raising animals, but after getting married and moving to live in the capital, this hobby went into the air🌬️. I liked the idea of reminding me of the calorie-free hobby😁. My father and mother still grow roses, jasmine and cloves, and he also suffers from aphids🐞🦗🤷🏻♀️

I buy and sell used furniture, or if I find a piece I like for free, I give away something else to make room for it.
