I am a lady shipbuilding painter. Also a mother of 3, busy wife, a short distance runner. I shed over 175 pounds, and I will be happy to tell you there’s a healthy way, and a deadly way: I am a severe bulimia- and anorexia-recovered person for six years. I have a journey of weight loss that is truly self-love and awareness. I have only within the last 12 months began to change my eating habits and to formally exercise at the gym. Before, doing these things was too triggering and I felt uneasy Attempting to lose weight and I felt at risk for relapse in with the eating disorder behavior. The majority of my teens and 20s I dedicated to being sick, was in and out of inpatient eating disorder hospitals. I turned 35 this summer And I’m in the best space with food than I have ever been. I am truly dedicated to whole wellness and happiness. I am reclaiming my body, and it feels like digging up your spring garden. It is beautiful and empowering. I lead a very active lifestyle, chasing three boys, and keeping up the household.

I never thought I could be slender without starvation. It was the only way I had ever been thin, until last year! Recovery from ED for me has meant gaining the weight without judgment. I had to learn how to eat, appropriate portions, regularly and I had to put away the scale for 6 years. I do know that my lowest weight was 115. I gave up control. I did this in order to reprogram my brain from the toxic behaviors of binge purge cycling and starvation. We would love more children and so getting my weight under control has been a huge step towards that. My goal is to be 140-ish. I drink maybe 1 or 2 drinks maybe once a month, I don’t smoke. I’m a shipbuilding woman, a painter. I measured at 210 pounds 10/17, 40/30/40 and 168 as of 5/18. 154 as of 10/18. I love occasional and regular treats. They keep me from binge eating.
