Retired NASA research engineer / Duke University professor. Food is not the problem...margaritas are! LOL Mine are made using fresh lemon, good tequila and Patron Orange liquor. They end up about 300 calories each and you can not have just one. :)
I am currently running (board chair/president) a non-profit called Senior Village at Saddlebrooke. Our mission: Provide simple non-medical services to residents of SaddleBrooke to help them live independently and to serve as a resource when they decide to transition from our community.

SaddleBrooke is an over 55 active community of retired people with about 7500 residents. Some have been here since the start and are now in there late 80's and early 90's. Still very active but not 'allowed' to drive so Senior Village does the driving for them using volunteers.

We currently have 700 members and 170 volunteers. Until three months ago we were all volunteer - driving over 30,000 miles a year taking members to doctor appointments or the grocery store or beauty parlor, changing light bulbs, air/water filters etc. I have just recently hired three part-time support people to help with the running of the Village. In a typical week we do about 50 services for members.
