Birthday in this house today. Wake up and see a beautiful cake on the table. Tempting to start the day with coffee and cake. Sit and think about my promise to myself to never have sweet as a meal. Quicky make a 3 egg omelette and eat that first, and then have coffee and a little cake. Curious to see if hunger will not be a big problem over the next two days. In theory it should be much less than if I had the cake by itself.

since I was breaking my diet I grabbed my favorite ice cream ben and jerrys fudge brownie chocolate. Ate the whole thing! I don't know if I will have room still to eat the spagettie tonight. still high on the ice cream! I definitely don't feel the need to have more. But then I have never felt sugar is my problem, my problem is the food I am sensitive to, which is flours and dairy for sure. bloat and probably cravings, it has been a while.

Great choices

Good choice! I’d just eat the cake; for breakfast, then lunch and then dinner...

Baskington I experienced that sugar high after eating ice cream last week for the first time ever!! It was crazy!

Happy Birthday to whomever it is that's celebrating - is that you Diddlee? There's still some of hubby's B'day cake here too, and I am so proud of myself for only having one tiny piece after supper last night. In the old days (aka up till the beginning of June) I would have had a slice with or for each meal of the day until it was gone. It is KETO cake which is awesome, but I still don't need it - today the rest of it goes in the garbage.

Totally, if you had had just cake your body would have created dumped insulin and you would have been hungry again to use up the insulin. Adding fat and protein helps in that equation.

Learned a lot from this piece of chocolate cake. Was happy for an hour or two. Then went sweet carb hungry for four hours. Had calm for some hours, till deep hunger hit again. My mind turned into a sad cry baby. Terrible state to be in. Chocolate cake is hereby permanently on my never-again list. I love feeling great much more than this little moment of blizz.

Another thing was that fighting the hunger, feeling deprived, was exhausting. It made my mid weak, and I hit near depression mode. It reminded about how I could quite commonly feel in my carb days. Having been completely free from depression for so long, made this episode feel extra extra scary and terrible. I suspect it is the chocolate in my case. I felt similar when I had only a tiny amount of 85% Chocolate not so long ago. Sugar and Grains is not in my normal food, but I thought chocolate have 'health benefits'. To me it is a ticket to depression. This is one of those things I love about an elimination diet. It becomes much more clear how foods can mess up life badly.

Still not right in my mind. When doing that 85% chocolate, it took about 40 hours before I was back to my happy strong self. Therefore expect much better mood later today, and certainly by tomorrow.

you will get past this and yes those sneaky foods are killer. I have never felt I have a problem with sugar or chocolate, when I broke my diet to start afresh with a high sugar/carb I found I was right. no cravings. but give me a cake I would be jonesing.

Diddlee you explained what I’m going through perfectly lol after being off Keto for over a week I’m a freakin mess LOL! The weight gain doesn’t even matter, I just want to fell better (like my new self) already!! For me it is carbs though. I can eat some 90% chocolate without causing cravings

You can do this!

Keto is such a contrast to carbs. I never knew that chocolate cake had this two day mental disability effect on me. In the carb days feeling like this was so common, it didn't stick out. Thank you all for your wonderful support. Happiness is back now, two days after. Seven months till next birthday thankfully 😀 Happy Sunday.

Wheat has that effect on me too. I would eat something with wheat in it and I would sink into a depression a few hours later and hit the fridge again. It was a viscous cycle.
