What was the catalyst that made you decide to lose weight?
I have always been a weight conscious person, for as long as I can remember. I remember 'dieting' when I was in the third grade (when I think about it now, I find it ridiculously sad that a 8-year old should feel the need to lose weight at all.) My family is full of skinny people, who really do take a lot of PRIDE in thinness. Like if you aren't thin, you're worth less, or something. Like no one will want to be with you if you're not.
Granted, I suppose I was never obese or anything. I was overweight though; I had years of being too scared to weigh myself, so I avoided it completely. The highest I ever weighed myself at was 160 lbs, but I know that wasn't my highest. It was probably somewhere around at least 170. I started seeing pictures of myself, and I was disgusted with how pudgy I'd gotten. And then I met some girls who were actually so motivated to lose weight. Same age, around the same height and weight... and they were doing it. I thought that if they could make progress, then there was no reason I couldn't. And so that's when it began; october 2009. I went on vacation with my family in December, to see extended family I hadn't seen in nearly 5 years. To hear them say I'd put on weight, was the real slap in my face. I realized I HAD to get serious. So I did. They were my motivators, and I've lost more weight than they ever thought I could. And I'm not even done yet. Smile

I'll be able to fit into that dress someday
I do this all the time, and it is the best motivator ever. Everytime I'm down a size, it's the most pleasant surprise ever. You don't see the change in yourself so easily, so when you actually fit into goalweight clothes, it's amazingggg. Smile
