I retired last year and am sectretary of my local site. It is very time consuming and sometimes I wonder how I found the time to go to work!! I grow potatoes onions peas beetroot all greens garlic beans strawberries rhubarb and courgettes. Allotment life is very friendly and other plot holders always give you their veg too! By the way we are not all 'old dears' on the site the average age is getting younger! I like going to my local pub to watch football and see my friends and we have a quiz team at another pub.
I don't like the wobbly bits I seem to have grown on various parts of my body and want now to get rid of them. I have never been thin and don't want to be thin. Anyway let's see how I get on.

Need Support
I watch the Biggest Loser and look at how great they look as the weesk progress. I weigh myself first thing in the morning a couple of times a week, and also measure my waist and hips, and record it in a little note book that only I can look at. I also go out when the weather is good, we've had quite alot of rainy days and now it's snowing so I am getting on my step machine when the adverts are on tv. Keep your food diary on here too, if I don't I don't lose as much weight. Good luck!

any ideas
Try to do something which gets you out of breath, walking several miles a day is good. Just get off the bus a couple of stops from your usual one, use the stairs instead of the lift. Keep a food diary and write everything down. Fill empty yoghurt pots with sugar free jelly and if you get the nibbles have one of these. Phone a friend. Hoping to see less of you.

What's your Danger Food?
I've bought some sugar free jelly crystals, made it up into 1 pint and then filled 4 x 125ml empty yoghurt pots and I keep them in the fridge for any time I get need something sweet- works for me!

Visiting the US- advice please!
I am thinking about coming to the US for a visit in a while. My plan is to start in New York, go to Florida by Amtrak stopping of at places on the way, then to see a friend in New Mexico, onto Monument Valley, then Las Vegas, to see a friend in California and finally San Francisco, I am spending my children's inheritance! At the moment it is just into the planning stages and I keep adding things to it. The latest is to see a basketball game or a football game, I know nothing about either and would appreciate some advice about going to watch a game. Also any advice that anyone thinks I might need for visiting places. Thankyou very much to anyone who takes the trouble to reply.

Not new, but newly back and needing some weight loss buddies!
Wow, a single Mum of 5- you're certainly brave, I couldn't cope with all of that. I'm here at the end of this if ever you want to have a rant about something! Enjoy your dinner out on Sunday, forget about the diet, weigh yourself 1st thing Monday before your little treasures get up and then start. Good luck.

I bought a pedometer and used it for the first time yesterday- I did 280 steps less than the 10000 advised, but I was surprised to find I'd walked 3 miles ...
