I've suffered from poor body image for most of my life. Even when I was at a healthy weight, I felt that I was overweight. In college, I gained 40 pounds.

I've started working out more in the past three years and have become very active, all I need to do now is to start eating better.

I'm not focusing on my weight as much as I am my measurements. I have a lot of muscle and know that it will throw off my weigh-ins.

Birth Control Debate
What you need to remember is that what the pill is doing is tricking your body into thinking it's pregnant so it won't bother releasing eggs. Because of this, you will have some side effects that are akin to the pregnant female body (mood swings, breast changes, etc).

What you also need to remember is that some of these side effects are largely temporary. Your body is getting used to the different levels of hormones and is starting to adjust. If you've just started taking the pill (less than 3 months in), I would suggest waiting it out to see if you feel better.

If you're still having problems, that's the time that you need to go to your doctor and discuss your options (unfortunately, a nurse won't be able to help you here, as they aren't licensed to change or prescribe medication. You'll need to see a doctor).

If you are unable to go to your regular practitioner, consider a local sexual health clinic. Many offer sliding-scale rates, or provide birth control at no cost.

Motivation
You'll need to start out small and slow. If you add 2-3 15 minute workouts into your week, you'll notice a difference and eventually look forward to your exercise. The main thing is that you need to hold yourself accountable to this goal.

One thing that I do to keep myself motivated to healthy living in general is to create a wishlist of clothing that I want to wear once I lose weight. Choose from things that you wouldn't feel comfortable in now, and use that as your goal.

Also consider trying to enlist the help of a friend who is either already athletic or who is trying to get into shape. Having someone work out with you makes it a lot more fun, and also gives you motivation to get out and do it. My boyfriend is super fit, and he'll encourage me to go on walks with him or to play his Wii fit (also a great option if you have the money for it!)
