I am a 28 year old, soon to be married Environmental Consultant. I have completed my BSc degree a few years back, and have begun working on my honors this year.

Stress and bad coping habits, combined with having to sit behind a computer and books for hours on end each day, have lead to me ballooning rapidly. I am now at a point where I desperately need to change my lifestyle and treat my body with a bit more kindness as well as respect, instead of ignoring it most of the time.

Challenges that I face in this task include hectic work & study demands, an injured knee, and complete lack of cooking skills.
Always looking for people to support and be supported by, so feel free to message me!

Topic of the Day May 3 - What Tools Do You Use On Vacation?
Well to be honest I know I have a problem with food. I would not go so far as to say it is something that can be medically ranked as being an outright disorder, but I rather view it as a really bad habit on my part.

I am a stress eater. When I stress, I want to eat, and it is usually the really bad stuff that I go after, fatty comfort food, chocolate, ice-cream… all the usual suspects.

Then I read something that really made me think:
http://zenhabits.net/crush/
“We don’t know how to cope with stress and boredom in a healthy way.”

And its truth hit home. I don’t know how to cope properly with the stress in my life, so I turn to stuffing my face. And of course the fact that I am stuck behind a computer for hours on end every week only add to the problem. In addition, not looking after my body, and having it in a condition of being tired and run down just adds to my inability to cope, and so the vicious cycle feeds itself in a never-ending loop.

But I have decided to put my foot down now. I am going to break this cycle one small habit at a time. And hopefully with the support of friends this is going to become a reality within the next few months.

Feeling like a failure...
Was sooooo there where you are, did everything right, and had no visible results... I got fed up and threw in the towel. Big mistake, put on even more. NCNOLE is 100% correct. I have been thinking a lot of late why I run after the sugar, and cups of coffee, and everything else. It take some soul searching to see the big picture, and instead of trying to simply treat the symptoms, to actually look at the cause.

Now I am back on this site, and determined to live a healthier life.

please add me!!
Hello Queency!
I joined the beginning of this year, and after going at it for a while with no noticeable results, lost all my motivation, and fell off the health wagon hard. But I am back here, and I have realised that I really need some additional buddy support if I want to make this work.
Lets help each other out through this!
