Hello! My name is Katie and I'm 30 years old. I've been overweight (um, obese...) for about 10 years. Two years ago I was diagnosed with PCOS. I have decided to try and do something about my weight in order to negate all the symptoms and condiitions (since there isn't a cure). Feel free to add me as a buddy! I love to give support and get it!

Do you really need to alternate days between workouts?
Last night, my husband and I threw a 12 pound medicine ball back and forth for 30 minutes (quick repetions for 10 mins, rest 2 mins, repeat). I had an awesome burn in my arms/shoulders/chest area, so I figured that I "worked out my arms".

I told him that I wanted to really work my legs the next day (i.e. today). He said ok, but we need to do the medicine ball again. When I said that I heard that you should rest a day between workouts (of one particular area of the body), he told me that all we had just done was strictly cardio and it was ok to throw the medicine ball every night.

Is this true? I'm not knowledgeable in the areas of toning muscles...

CONFUSED???

I truly believe that losing weight is AT LEAST as much a psychological thing as it is a physical thing.

YES!!! I am in complete agreement! Congratulations on your success. By the way, you won't be "regular thin dude", you will be "inspiration-for-me-to-lose-weight dude".

I have struggled with just changing my habits. I used to be a late night fast food (4th meal) dinner eater. This is also where I sabatoged myself the most (most calories, most carbs). Still after over a month of dieting, my stomach starts to growl around 10:30 at night. (I just eat a yogurt to calm it!) It takes a lot of willpower to let go of your past self and habits. I always felt alone in my journey and that saddened me more. However, now I see how much support there is out there since I've joined FS. Keep thinking positive! We're all here for you!
