I was always a small, skinny kid growing up, always wanting to gain weight. My wish came true after turning thirty, when I hit my max of 225 lbs. I tried the South Beach diet back when my daughter was born 7 years ago and got down to 175.
Over the past few years I've crept up and down, hovering around 195-200. This year I decided I was tired of it and started to work on losing 50 lbs... the exact weight of my daughter. I wanted to be able to get to a "normal" weight (by BMI standards), pick up my daughter and know that I was walking around all day with her on my back. :)
I'm following the tenets of South Beach again (low sugar, low carb, GOOD carbs, whole grains, lean meats) but also recording both food and exercise (or lack thereof) via Fat Secret's apps. The result? An average loss of 2 lbs. per week.
I really feel that while South Beach is a good diet and lifestyle plan to follow, what's making me lose weight is counting my calories and ending each day with a calorie deficit. The Fat Secret apps have really helped with this, and have even turned it into a bit of a "game" I'm trying to win. :)
As of this writing, I have 8 lbs. to go. I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. Thanks Fat Secret!
