I am a married 38 year old and I live and work in Houston, Texas. Like many on this website I struggled with my weight as I got older and short of starvation or surgery I didn't know how to shed the weight. I started using the FatSecret.com website almost 2 years ago just to track weight and to get an idea of caloric intake - but I wasn't using it effectively. On January 1, 2012 I began to seriously use it as a way to more accurately monitor weight, exercise and food on a daily basis. Since then I have lost nearly 65 lbs and my goal is to lose another 15 by summer and then maintain a healthy weight.

I have found that the cell phone app is really convenient and I recommend anyone who is serious about losing weight that they use it as a tool every day to enter calories and weight - long story short just keep at or below your RDI and you'll be fine, if you can add some exercise all the better. I would also recommend some of the weight loss challenge forums as a way to keep motivated as they really have been helpful for me.
