Deb_N's Journal, 21 November 2014

Hello, everyone! Hope you are doing well in your healthy journey at FatSecret!

Here in the US, there are several reports of food being recalled, not only for contaminated food (E.coli, Salmonella, Listeria) but from manufacturers not listing all of the ingredients on the label, which could trigger an allergic attack for some people. If you are interested, go here and look for the Recalls & Alerts: http://www.foodsafety.gov/

Added this link to a great recipe here at FatSecret! Omelet Cups. Will try this some day. :)

Someday, with all the junk they put into food, it's going to come back and bite us all in a massive way. I wish I could afford organic, but there's no way, no how. Thanks Deb!

Nowiunderstand, I do believe that all that junk is already coming back to bite us; the obesity in children, the higher incidence of allergies and diabetes.

With all the food allergies out there they are lucky no one has sued!

@WF/ but that more attributable to the wrong kinds of food, and not the pesticides, hormone growth, and massive vaccinations given to animals. And, one basic principle that the farm industry is violating, in my book anyway, is the feeding of the wrong types of food to the animals. Some herbivores are being feed a carnivorous diet, if not cannibalistic. Can't be good for us. Actually, with the massive vaccination, there is medical research which points to the fact that we are becoming immune to some antibiotics, due to the fact that we eat animal foods vaccinated with too many types antibiotics. They think it's passed through the food chain. Duh!

Nowiunderstand, I agree, I've been on the whole and organic food bandwagon since the early 70's. Raised my kids with a huge organic garden, and most meats were purchased on hoof from neighbors who I knew how they raised their animals or from a local meat market, who also raised the meat he sold. That's why I said all that junk is coming back to bite us. I live in the city now so my resources are different. I too wish I could afford all organic, that is why I'm excited that we are soon getting a larger natural food store closer.

Whole food nut they have a store in Florida which I think is a national chain called whole foods and a big local store called nature's food patch - alot of natural and organic food- it may interest you- my co worker likes natural whole foods like you- it's not as cheap as other sores but the service is good and merchandise is good

Whole Foods is awesome! We have o but it's 35 miles away on the other side of a very spread out Kansas City metro area and not in direction I go often for anything else. Not handy for weekly shopping. Trader Joes is also somewhere down past there, it opened a couple years ago but have never been there. Agreed, often more expensive but with careful shopping. That's why I'm excited about a new natural store opening soon closer to home.

Looking forward to some day going to a Whole Foods store and Sprouts. I've been to Trader Joe's and like the people, so friendly. I posted a recipe link in my November 21 journal. Just look up and you'll see it. It's called Omelet Cups. Really low calorie if you eat egg whites. If you use whole egg, you have to recalculate the calories. You knew that, didn't you! ;)

If you don't see the link to the recipe, click on my journal. Or just search Recipes at FatSecret for the Omelet Cups. :)

Trader Joes is there also opened a year or so ago, haven't been there. I'm on the NE side of the metro, the stores are all on the SW side 35-50 miles one way. One day, I will take the time to go.
